Nothing listed so far today. I’ve slobbed with the pooches since I woke up.
i did root out two more binbags bursting with clothes to upload before I went to bed last night (at 3am!) but even nocturnal me can’t work efficiently at that hour, so I need to reassess why the clothes were in bags to begin with.
£21.50 pending balance in my Vinted account. New statement date should be tomorrow, so I will see how much interest is added and calculate the perecentage of progress I have made to paying it off.
I’m so grateful to everyone that comments on my thread. The advice and support really is a huge help. Is it weird that one of my motivating forces is a desire to not let readers down? I’m a long term lurker on lots of diaries, and I know I’m cheering the OPs on and feeling their successes and fall downs on their journey. Mirror neurons at play.Must get on. Boys need to get ready to move for the week, and I need to make the apartment my solo solace. Just in time for them to return 😆MFW 2025 #50: £1139.75/£600007/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00

Harry the Hoover has the shakes. Something is off with his motor and he’s barely sucking. He’s visibly trembling, clearly terrified by the job in front of him.
I’ve picked up all the bits I can see on my raggedy carpets. Haven’t got the rubber broom out as it’s pointless because… the boys haven’t gone.
Big NEET asked to stay for one more night as he’d invited ‘someone’ over. That explains the two hour deep clean, as I suspect ‘someone’ is a love interest. No sign yet though.
Youngest then asked to remain as he’s set up his gaming computer and wanted to do something on it. I won’t let him move it between houses.
They go tomorrow night. I’m not shovelling snow while it’s still snowing, and this apartment needs some TLC. I need some peace too!
Ive had to do a cupboard/fridge/freezer dive to gather food for two more evening meals than I had planned for. I live on random frozen meals created while they are here (or cheese toasties!) but didn’t have enough of anything pre-made for full family meals.
I cobbled together pasta carbonara for tonight (had a sachet of carbonara mix in the depth of the cupboard, and just enough bacon left in the fridge), and defrosted some chicken drumsticks. They are now slow cooking with the remnants of some carrots, chillies, garlic, a red onion and some sad looking mushrooms and slightly wrinkled tomatoes. I threw in a third of a jar (left over from yesterday) of tomato & garlic pasta sauce, some tomato paste and a jug of vegetable stock. Topped that off with a ton of spices, and I’m calling tomorrow’s dinner ‘can’t complain curry’ 😆
Havent uploaded a thing to Vinted yet as I took the “what the heck do I feed them” challenge as my cue to do a food inventory and have taken everything out of the cupboards, cleaned and rearranged the kitchen. I can edit my online shop now. Three tins of baked beans, two tins of chopped tomatoes, and three bags of fusilli pasta is plenty.
Bonus find; chocolate brownie cake mix. That has just finished cooking and I’m about to serve it up with the ready made custard found living with the teabags.
any tips on what to do with a melon that has seen better days? Dare I risk it?MBNA 237.47/13997.47

Re melon, I would cut in half or quarters, chill the eatable bits and serve with ice cream. The squidgy bits make an excellent face mask but you do have to be lying down of course...1

Theres no way anyone could get 16 portions out of that mix though 🤣
The melon may be going to the birds, I haven’t wanted it since I bought it, and the boys aren’t interested either. I ate loads of fruits during the summer, come autumn my only fruit has been in pastilles and wine.MBNA 237.47/13997.47

Spendy day today as I needed cleaning products (son used an excessive amount to rid his room of sweaty boy smell) laundry detergent, milk and biscuits. I was going to get a dog calming plug-in as big dog barks every time a firework goes off. There seem to be a lot more of those this year, and they seem louder. People must have money to (literally) burn! Plug in was £15 and not budgeted for. Next best thing then, radio 4 for pets and cuddles with Mum. Little dog isn’t phased at all.MBNA 237.47/13997.47

So much for my child free week. One is back. He lasted an hour at his Dad’s. Friend in tow. This friend has been (unofficially) living with us for 19 days. He’s had a disagreement with his Nan (he’s been living with her since his Mum kicked him out) and Dad won’t take him in. At least while he’s under my roof neither boy is wandering the streets and getting into trouble.
No word from ex checking that son is here.
Hopefully son will calm down tomorrow and switch homes. He came in and rooted through food stores, and was surprised to find no cereal, squash or junk food. It was all consumed last week, and I don’t do a big shop when the boys are gone. He may go back to ex once he realises he has snacks 😆
son has eaten my biscuits 😏 and complained about the only chocolate being fruit & nut (cannot eat that with his new braces), I won’t top up my solo snack supplies until he’s moved again. Love him, but also love my solo time to get jobs done.
in other news, I’ve been asked out, by two different men! Just like buses, nothing for ages, then two at once. It’s a shame I haven’t budgeted for dating 😂MBNA 237.47/13997.47

My dog is terrified of fireworks and shakes uncontrollably at the sound. Classic FM seems to help, they have a four hour calming music slot tonight.
People have fireworks from the weekend before Halloween to the weekend after bonfire night. I wish there was a wholesale ban on noisy fireworks! I'm not party pooping, but so many animals, both domestic and wild, are spooked and it's unnecessary. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?1 -
