basic pasta sauce about 25p basic pasta 19p make some garlic dough balls to go with it
sausage, mash and onion gravy, veg bake, tuna pasta, eggy bread and beans, cheap basic noodles for about 10p for snacks. Morrisons basic curry cook in sauce in only 5p or 6p (think sainsburys are the same sort of price) I used this with some left over chicken some peas and onions to make a really cheap curry that I served with rice and basic pitta bread.LBM-29/08/07

Today we have spent nothing yet had a great `family day` we have been out for a walk, got really muddy just how the kids like it, sorted out the kids old toys and listed them on ebay..the kids like this when they know they are getting half of the profits ( i bought them originally so i get half too!!).
Then went to a friend house for a few hours, kids played with each others xmas gifts, and we took as few nibbles which we had in already (sausage rolls, crisps ect ) 5 hours killed and didnt spend a penny but had a great time.
We also have a huge collection of board games and very often have games nights, tommorow on new years eve we normally have a party but due to everyone being ill, we will have a games night with a small buffet made from what we have left in, cheap but loads of fun!Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
Thanks for much for the tips and the website. Been a great help.
Yes the £53 a week is for food shop and anything else if i can manage it. Car is full with petrol and will last until i get paid again and all bills are covered with DD's already.
Already thinking cinema for the 2 of us on Wed as its cheap day, £3 a ticket. That will break the week up nicely and if anything can enjoy experimenting with recipes and finding new things.
Thanks again :jMummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -

I just have to ask, where on earth do you get a cabbage for 30p? I'd pay well over double that for the smallest cheapest one I can buy locally. And it would only do the 4 of us one meal.I knew living in London was expensive, but ..........

Thanks! By the time I factor in petrol to get to our nearest Morrisons, there'd be no saving unfortunately. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0

Can I make a suggestion for something which OH and I enjoy when in Italy, (he is a serious tv fan but doesn't speak Italian so thankfully it is turned off) we put a jigsaw on a tray and spend some time each day trying to put it together...neither of us is good at jigsaws so it lasts a while, but it is a very relaxing pass time as an occasional thing.
You can survive on your money...just don't buy anything you don't need...make your list and stick to it

Lidl: got huge red and white cabbage there for 30p each which made dinner on Christmas day, a huge pot of coleslaw, Roast yesterday and a Stirfry tomorrow, plus a huge pot of potato and cabbage soup which we had and three more portions frozen - but it's only the 2 of us plus a 1 year old.0
