Travel Index and useful Websites?
Sorry, but at the very best this thread is a hotch potch, mish mashed selection of information that is very poorly indexed, poorly presented and with an all too obvious bias.
. But this thread really isn't needed and whoever saw fit to make it a sticky..... Well.
Another vote for Crabman from me .
The Index idea is a good one and for a lot of people, will contain the information that they are looking for. The Travel Forum is huge, and a quick look through the Index can/will/could save a MSEer an extensive search to find what they are looking for.
Plus, having links in the Index hopefully saves the same thread questions being reposted again and again (hmm, well some of them anyway !)0 -

I Wholeheartedly agree, indexing is a great idea, however I would suggest indexing the forum, rather than having one thread attempting to index the whole deal. The MSE Dictionary

Sweetheart stop being so difficult for a change.
And I have to apologise to Crabman for a post that was intended as a Mildrewesque style critical rant, but one that should have been constructive in it's criticism, rather than simply a critical ramble as it turned out. I could of course blame it on the Zonte's Footstep Shiraz Viognier..... So I am going to.
So, my apologies to Crabman. The MSE Dictionary

I've been looking at splitting it into several posts as it has almost reached the 25,000 character limit
Regarding the stickies, I'm not sure it's practical to have separate threads for airport parking, visas, etc. as that would simply clutter the top of the board. I'm also not sure what "obvious bias" you feel exists
The main point of this thread is to prevent duplicate topics springing up. The idea behind the Q&A threads is again to save heaps of topics discussing popular topics such as New York. The added advantage is all questions & answers within those threads can be found easily which may help people find information without having to post the question and wait for a reply.
The key point to take away is that this thread is here to supplement, not replace, the site search function
Expect things to change soon. Thanks for the feedback0 -

Then let me explain why your energies would be better expended elsewhere.
Almost every day there are the same currency questions, the same visa questions, the same liquids in hand luggage questions, etc, etc, etc.
So..... Ask yourself why the same questions are repeatedly asked and in the majority of cases, IMHO you will find that the answer is that people are simply lazy, and no amount of hard work on your part indexing threads will stop the idle from posting their repeat threads. The MSE Dictionary
