RBS 0% Balance Transfer Credit Card

Wondering if anyone knows the answer. I've looked in terms but still vague to my mind.

Applied for a got a 0% BT of which I have bumped 95% from another card.  It leaves me 5% to spend, and then the monthly payments to top up as well.

If I  spend in the first 3 months, it says 0%.  Then normal rates afterwards.
  • 0% for 13 months from account opening on balance transfers made within the first 3 months, after which standard rates apply.
  • No fees to transfer a balance to this credit card.
  • 0% on purchases for 3 months from account opening, thereafter standard rates apply.
Does that mean.
1. Anyone purchases made within that first 3 months are 0% for the 13 months of the card
2. They are only 0% for the first 3 months then I end up paying standard rates on them.

If 2 is the case, I won't use it as I'd guess they will split the min payments between BT and purchases so I'd end up paying interest

You'd have to read the full terms and conditions but I think it's 2.

Assuming that you are asking because you are stoozing and not because you are in financial trouble, the NatWest/RBS bank let you have 3 credit cards with them so might be worth seeing if you can get a different card for your purchases.

Yeah it's stoozing.  I've transferred 95% from a card ending this month. Can't apply with NatWest, something to do with an old account that closed years ago, so I can't go through the application process. Good to know on the 3 cards though, I can get another RBS one then maybe.

I think it best to use BT cards for nothing but the transfer offer (can't beat 0% really!).  As soon as any purchases are on the card it becomes confusing.

OP it is definitely option 2. Purchases are only interest free for 3 months
