Hi allWe have just switched to UC after a migration letter from tax credits
We did numerous benefit calculations with CAB etc and they all showed us as better off by between £200 - £300 per month. We were getting tax credits of £248 per week whixh has now stopped.
We were also assured we would get transitional capital protection.
I dont understand it as it says we are only going to be getting £15!!!! Thats like £900 less per month we will be getting compared to tax credits?
It even says
"We have taken £174.00 off your Universal Credit payment because you have money, savings and investments "

And do you have money, savings and investments? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
What deductions have been made from the UC amount? (If you can post a screenshot of this, it might help).
You might also use the benefit calculators at entitledto.co.uk and turn2us.org.uk as these show you how your UC award is calculated so you can check where the DWP's calculation has gone wrong. It might be in the area of capital protection. There seems to have been cases where the transitional protection offered has not be set up on the UC claim.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -

Are there also deductions for earnings? Do either of you work? Is the person that gets ESA in the support group ? If so there should be an LCWRA element on the claim.0

It would seem that the section in bold may be the issue. If that hasn't been applied and should be, it would have a massive effect on the level of payment.blackstar said:Hi allWe have just switched to UC after a migration letter from tax creditsWe did numerous benefit calculations with CAB etc and they all showed us as better off by between £200 - £300 per month. There does seem to be a bit of a lag at times with TP when moving from TC.
If your statement doesn't show any TP then that's the reason.
Let's Be Careful Out There0 -
You will have the £174 taken off for investments because you have over 16k in savings so they make deductions for anything over 6k.blackstar said:

We also asked and they did a calculation of us owning a home and not renting and we were still better off
