  • I feel your pain working nights Phoenix I work permeant nights gerrrrrrr

re surveys have you tried these two apps I do quite well off them and they are handy if we get a quiet work spell.

Try an app called Qmee and the other app i use is called curious cat.

Both pay in cash not vouchers and you can drop money into paypal

Oh that must be even harder to get your sleep pattern adjusted on your days off!
I've used Qmee in the past and not really a fan but I've downloaded Curious Cat to take a look :)
Currently I'm just glaring moodily at my pending balance on Prolific as it's nearly £15 but not budging :joy:

  • Good things to report today:
    - I have gone through all of my bank accounts and PayPal with a fine tooth comb to make sure there's nothing missing from my budget. Added in a few small things for a few £ here and there but there should never be a penny unaccounted for that 'automatically' comes out of my bank account. Also prompted me to cancel Headspace which I've been paying £4.99 a month for, for about a year and used once. £60 wasted over the year :anguished:

    - I had a few subscriptions that automatically went onto my (already massive) O2 bill. For these now I will share an account with a family member so I either don't pay it or contribute a small amount. Will save myself around £10 a month

    - Good chunk of Prolific surveys done yesterday and today, my pending balance will cover my purchase of the firestick and vape liquids when they eventually clear

    - Been asked to stay at my dads a couple of days next week to help with the animals so will get a couple of free dinners whilst there and will be able to do my towels/dressing gowns there and use their bigger washing machine & tumble dryer. Will also be out getting exercise doing dog walks (and maybe start Couch to 5k)

-Checked my water account and I am in credit. Once they have sorted the address issue, if this is still the case I will request a refund. I can't see that I'll ever use more than I am now unless I start having 3 showers a day, washing up every hour and doing a wash load every single day :joy:

This really is a proper 'reset' month for me to have had the time and motivation to double check everything and get in a good mindset :)

Its hard I agree but I just get into a pattern and stick with it and the shift allowance is worth it plus 4 on 4 off

I know what you mean, I do 6 on 4 off with different shifts across those 6 days but the shift allowance makes up a huge chunk of my pay!

  • Happy Sunday :)

All washing caught up on other than the bits I'm going to do at my dads. Need to iron my work shirts at some point but no rush for that got loads more time off yet. Picked up my click + collect order last night, one item wasn't available. I never tick for substitutions as I'd much rather be able to quickly nip in the shop after I've collected it and get the most suitable alternative rather than whatever their computer thinks is suitable. Popped in and managed to walk through the Christmas sweets & treats aisle and just carry on walking. Only picked up the thing that was missing, paid from the last bit of change in my purse and went home again! Rough order booked in for next weekend but I may end up cancelling that in the week if I can make what I've got in stretch until payday with just popping into the actual store and only getting a few top-up bits rather than a full shop.

Should be a NSD today, don't have any plans to go anywhere so probably another day of being a hermit.

Looking ahead a tiny bit to next months spends my only planned spends are:
    - Hotel for a family do (sharing with a family member so splitting the cost, already budgeted for in the 'Extras' part of my budget)
    - Some drink to take if needed (will come out of pocket money, shouldn't be a lot)
    - A microwave (will be second hand as cheap as possible off of FB, look to be a few in good condition at the moment between £20-£30. Where I batch cook a lot at the moment I struggle with some of the meals that ideally are better off reheated in a microwave rather than heating up in a pan or the oven. This would come out of pocket money.)
    - A replacement basket for my Ninja (old one didnt survive a fall out of a cupboard, it's dented so badly the coating has come off and you can see a lot of the metal underneath, not sure this is safe to use anymore. Can only buy my version from Ninja  £20.99. Have looked on Amazon/eBay/FB but everything is for the newer models. This would also need to come out of pocket money)
    - First few Christmas presents - budgeted for

My hope is to get some extra pennies from surveys and if I can find anything to sell to cover the cost of the cooking bits I need. Towards the end of the month if there's enough left over I would also like to get a decent pot with a lid to make chilli and other batch cook meals - I don't have one at the moment, Asda seem to have some decent Scoville ones on offer. Will revisit later in November. (Just annoyed myself by window shopping these, the ones I've been looking at are massively reduced from when I last looked the other day, can't stretch the budget this month :sleepy: )

  • I ended up popping out for a bit yesterday evening to my local to see some family before they go on holiday and I'm so glad I did. Bumped into some friends too I haven't seen for over a month, and not only did I not actually buy any drinks (only had a couple of diet cokes) I actually unintentionally made a few quid by dropping some of them home and them insisting I take some money for it :joy: so a good time was had and no money spent!

Plus I weighed myself and another 1.5lb lost :)

Today will be a nice stroll with one of the dogs I'm looking after today, keeping an eye out for surveys and my sibling treating me to a takeaway :)

Just a thought, going by the prices of second hand microwaves a new one isn't usually much more. Guarantee etc.

I'll definitely have a look around at offers when I'm ready to buy one and see how cheap I can get a new one compared to secondhand :)

  • Not much to report but checking in to keep myself accountable. NSD yesterday and will be another one today. My only plans are a tidy up at home then going over to my dads for dinner and staying over so I'm there ready to help with the animals tomorrow morning. 10 days to go until payday and I can set up my first full month's budget on YNAB which I am sadly very excited about :joy:
