You lot aren't related to Michael O'Leary by anychance? :)

I wish I had a penny for every company I've been accused of having something to do with.
I'd be able to start my own airline.
You just lose all credibility trotting that old chestnut out.

A lot of people I know use Kayak and I've just pulled this from the MSE website. "but Kayak* is Martin's favourite"

Kayak only find the best prices then you go to Ryanair or whoever it is you are interested in. It's Ryanair's website that needs looking at. As I said I hunted high and low to find out just exactly how many 20kg bags were to my name and it was not clear at all. That's what made me buy another in my wife’s name. Then Lo and Behold when I came back to Ryanair it was now showing quite clearly that I had indeed 2 20kg bags to my name.

How about you give the link to where Martin says Kayak is his favourite instead of posting the link to Kayak...

You didn't say you found the price on Kayak and then booked direct with Ryanair.

So, if I've read this correctly, you added a 20kg bag at Ryanair's website without knowing if any had been previously added when you booked via Kayak ?

Hello, It was the ryanair website I had problems with I couldn't find just exactly how many 20kg bags were booked with them. Not until I paid for another then it clearly showed I had 2 booked in my name. So I needn't have paid for another in my wife's name. Hope that clears it up!
    Cheers!

Kayak and Skyscanner are great for looking up flights, but when it comes to actually booking, it's oftentimes better to book via the airlines actual website. This is especially the case with budget airlines where the baggage you get with the ticket is unclear.

Putting all this aside, it sounds like you've had quite a few issues with Ryanair and are not a huge fan. If it's really that bad, vote with your feet and use a different airline next time. It's no secret that Ryanair is cheap, but their service is rubbish. That's why a lot of people are willing to pay extra and fly with BA or someone else.

With respect that was clearly explained from the start.
I'm just wondering why you added a bag if you were in any doubt that luggage had/had not been included when booking via Kayak ?
  • Hi everyone, thanks for all of your comments even the somewhat nasty ones. lol.

I went through PayPal to get my £45 back from Rip Off Ryanair!

And guess what I am being refunded my money as PayPal have found in my favour!

I told them what I told you. So, it looks like they agree with me doesn't it about their crappy underhanded website and sharp practice.

So, the moral of the story is make sure you use PayPal.

    Nuff said!!!

This is bad advice. Do not use PayPal as you risk losing Section 75 protection. Better to pay using a credit card on the actual airline's website (or potentially not book a flight with Ryanair).
  • Hi I have a problem with Ryanair.I w as due to travel with my wife to Tenerife on 30/09/2024. Unfortunately the week before I was admitted to hospital and kept in for 5 days.On leaving the consultant told me I was unable to travel abroad. It was stated on my discharge letter also.I called Ryanair who said they would not refund the cost of the flights (£535) and I also have since tried the credit card company I paid with. They also declined to repay me.
Is there anything else I can do?They have received copies of the Hospital letter but totally ignore it.
I believe this was out of my control and I should at least been offered a credit voucher for use in the future for that amount.

Your best bet will be to claim on your travel insurance.

agree this on one for your travel insurance.
It is perfectly usual for airlines not to refund non-refundable tickets, Ryanair are not alone in this. Credit Card is not liable as the flight is still available.
If you have chosen to self-insure (have not purchased travel insurance or have it through a bank account) then you carry the loss.
