Having only been abroad once in the last 20 years I went to Spain earlier this year I now have the holiday bug lol

So Ive booked a last min holiday next month to Portugal to a place called Lisbon! Ive never been to Portugal has anyone been in mid October what will the weather be like? Can I still sunbathe? What clothes should I pack?

Any advice on Lisbon greatly appreciated!

You might want to do a little bit of your own research before coming on here and asking further questions.
I’m sure people might have some recommendations but perhaps start with a little bit of googling for yourself  first?

Get a guide book, as recently updated as possible.

What I can tell you is that Lisbon is hilly. Every day will be "leg day" - so pack shoes you can walk in.
  • Lisbon is on the Atlantic coast and by October could be quite stormy. We were on a cruise last October that stopped off in Lisbon. It got stuck in port because it was too rough to leave the harbour.
  • It will be warm. At least 22c. Possibly a bit chillier at night. So summer clothes with a jumper for the evenings

This will be more of a city break than a beach holiday @SUPERGIRL2020.

There's plenty to see and do around Lisbon, Google Things to do for ideas.

It is hilly but they have a great tram system and funiculars to get you up the hills.

I'd also recommend that you take a train out to Sintra.

One of my favourite city break cities.  Its spread out, but the different areas can be visited using trams and the metro.

If you want to escape the city for a beach day catch the train to Cascais and walk along the beach to Estoril and get the train back.

Buy yourself a travel card for local transport. It will save you time and a lot of money.

Get the No 28 tram which covers some of the tourist areas in Central Lisbon.

Just Google things to do in Lisbon.

What sort of things do you like doing? History? Art? Sports? Balance of sightseeing vs chilling out - might depend on how long you are going for? Beaten track or avoiding other tourists like the plague?
I find tripadviser or travel guides top 10 for a place is a good starting point then you can start to narrow down what interests you and what doesn't.
Last place I went to I was "cathedraled out" so found an underground tunnel museum to explore instead.

Yes, one of the best cities in Europe for a weekend break. Good combinational of history, good food/drink and reasonably priced.  Porto is also great.

As above the most important thing to pack are good walking shoes as it's very hilly and tiled pavements everywhere which become lethal when wet.
