Login Confusion

Hi, I am very confused about the various logins I have for MSE & MSM.
For MSE I have a login for the site, the forum and the energy club. The forum one works as I am here but I cannot login to the main site. When I request a new password reset code nothing happens, I never receive the code.
When I try and do a car insurance quote I'm directed to an MSM site, which will also not let me login and also does not send me a password reset code.
I am assuming that the MSE & MSM accounts are actually different, even though it maybe possible to use the same email address and password they are actually logging into different systems, perhaps they are not.
For clarity, the emails are not going into junk and I know the logins were valid as they are stored in 1Password.
Any help or guidance appreciated.

Hi @iwaddo77
We're very aware that the number of different types of MSE account is currently quite confusing, and our colleagues are in the midst of a big project to unite many of the systems so that they all work together more smoothly and seamlessly.
You obviously have a Forum account, and you mention the Cheap Energy Club too. Those are two separate stand-alone systems at the moment, not linked to other MSE functions.
There is then another system that encompasses the 'MyMSE' features of the app, and the Credit Club - and now also the 'login' function on the main MoneySavingExpert.com website.
You say "When I request a new password reset code nothing happens, I never receive the code" - that points to you perhaps not having an account for the app/Credit Club/website (or if you do, it's linked to a different email address).
The car insurance tool is separate again from the features mentioned above.Official MSE Forum Team member. Please report all problem posts to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I have exactly the same problem - login constantly fails, telling me I have used the wrong email or password, yet I have these saved in my password manager. If I request a new password, I never receive the reset code in my email. It's very awkward!1

If you're trying to log in to the Forum but the message mentions a verification code, then you're on the wrong screen, as the Forum software doesn't use codes in this way.
The only way to log in to the Forum is on this screen:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/entry/signin
Any other MSE login screen won't work for the Forum.
If you are trying to log in to the app, the Credit Club or another MSE product, then your Forum credentials won't work there. (Unless you've registered separately and used the same details for both.)Official MSE Forum Team member. Please report all problem posts to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I was somehow logged out of the forum and failed to recognize my password manager saved password. I ended having to reset my password even though it wasn't for the forum. Really confusing and unsure how I became logged out in the first place for this to even happen.0

Took me a while to find my way here...i did not know that you now have differnet LOGINS. Keeps saying wrong password but DOES NOT send me a verification code.
Mentioned in Sept 24 that you were working on this.....in the spirit of all that is good about MSE....Plain english, please can MSE help...0 -
Since September further progress has been made and you can now use one account for the MSE app, the Cheap Energy Club and the Credit Club.
Any Forum account you have remains separate (though of course people may use the same details)Official MSE Forum Team member. Please report all problem posts to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
James, thank you, can I ask about Money Supermarket?
Whilst it maybe my choice to use the same email and password are these actually separate sites with separate logins?
Thank you for your help.0 -
Any MoneySuperMarket account you have is separate from your MSE account.
It's not my specialist area but I think the only crossover is the MSE Compare+ insurance tool which lets you use your MoneySuperMarket account to fill in your details if you've already got an account with MSM.
If you've got accounts with both MSE and MSM, then your details may or may not be the same, depending what you chose when you signed up, but they are separate accounts.Official MSE Forum Team member. Please report all problem posts to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com1 -
Thank you for the confirmation.
It was the insurance tool that got me very confused trying to login correctly but at least I know now.0 -
Yes I too had same issues. Only with thanks to the first post did I realise that the verification code was sent to my junk emails. Now logged in! Just out of curiosity what is the adavantage of having an ‘account’ with MSE anyway?I can see MSE without having to have an account surely?. I know the forum is different..0
