I had a second brew, got dressed, shuffled laundry, put out clean towels and tea towels, set WM swishing with used towels and tea towels, fed the birds, put out the recycling, had coffee, spent 40 minutes in the front garden chopping back the pampas, gave towels and tea towels an extra spin, and draped them onto airer. And I'm now relaxing with a cold drink.

morning all
snaffled a 'new' hutch from a free site for Daisy Duke which I scrubbed and rinsed yesterday so that's dried and had sawdust etc put in; that will get DD off my back for a bit. Daisy now in the run; other two lolloping about on the garden. I will need a new water bottle, and I might buy some spare stainless steel bowls too. I knitted a cardigan band while I was at Mum's Thursday night so sewed that on yesterday whilst watching An Inspector Called (2015).
I have had washing out so more to iron and there's more on the line. Wordled in 2 (woot!) but baffled by connections so far.

Spent a couple of hours at the allotment, clearing up a bit, pulling up spent plants, picking some greenery and beetroots for the next couple of days. Knackered now, so it’s a slow afternoon for me. I did randomly tidy my sock drawer earlier, not sure why.
I have taken to doing the Guardian quick cryptic crossword. I have always been stumped by cryptic crosswords although my mum was an avid do-er, but this is designed for people like me. Sometimes they take me an hour, sometimes a week, but I do feel that my brain gets a workout. Highly recommended for anyone who fancies the challenge - I am still doing July’s, so I have a few in hand to do!
I am cooking the last plums, might make a cake-for-the-week later, and am mid sorting out my summer clothes.
See you all on the other side x5 -
It's been a long, hard week but I/we have finally knocked the house back into a livable shape, so there is now time to catch up on Fred (tick) and post.CoG: Congratulations on your MSE badge of honour (trumpet fanfare - toot toot toot toot tootle toot) and 32 years with A. I need to revist all the posts about getting the stain out of your white tablecloth - I bought three on Ebay of different sizes, none perfect, but the combination worked for what I wanted and all three are now stained! I defo aged with a bang at 42 but it's only now at 68 I'm realising I'm not as flexible as I was and that's annoying. When I have time I'm going to look at a couple of Physios I like on UTube and see what they say about improving hip flexibility. I'm glad your Plymouth friend is improving.Jazee I'm sorry you're a bit poorer than you were but glad Poppet is okay.Kazwookie: Huge congratulations on the 1,000,000 steps, and sorry to hear about the PF. It's something I've heard mentioned a bit here and there but luckily so far escaped myself.Happy birthday Valli! The D'shire Arms looks fab, so I hope the lunch was lovely.YL Congratulations on getting through the speak on Friday and I hope today's arm-twisted volunteering went smoothly, and you got something out of it yourself.I'm sorry your daughter's health is troubling her again Fayolle. *healing vibes* for her.Round I'm okay with Wordle most days but hopeless at Connections. I think I've done well to get one line most days and use up all my lives doing just that! The non-NY Times version lets me restart and even that doesn't usually improve my performance but this week I did manage all four lines on one day. I think that's only the second time ever.Last WeekendOne of the guests suggested we have fish and chips on Friday evening which we could pre-order for collection so the chaps went off to get there. Via the pub. Inevitably. While they were out someone suggested we girlies should crack open a bottle of champagne which may have been a bit of a mistake but it was a very successful evening all round. Excessive but successful, with a lot of laughter.Saturday went really smoothly and again - lots of laughter. I changed my mind about what I wanted to wear because the weather was much warmer and sunnier than expected and found, eventually, the top and scarf that suited it and the same guest who suggested fish and chips ironed both of them for me. (She was a total star the whole weekend.) Belovéd can be very, very funny and he was on top form at the Registry Office, where we discovered that it was the Registrar's first Civil Partnership so had to be Observed. I almost felt sorry for her, but she took it all in good part and she won't forget her first CP, that's for sure. Photographs. I look terrible. They won't be seeing the light of day.Off to here for lunch which was amazing, a huge treat and well worth the effort to get there and back, with many thanks to the other person who drove a carfull. The vegetarian particularly loved it. Some of us have been trying to work out how they made the cavelo nero thing and the butternut squash thing but they haven't published those recipes yet. Then home, a bit of a rest and a cheese and paté supper later with more champagne but not quite as excessive as the Friday evening.Sunday morning literally everyone pitched in to make the food for the champagne cream tea, and Belovéd and I had done First Prize cards for everyone in different categories, like 'Introducing us 31 years ago', 'Being the best boss' and 'Inspiring me to bake a cake' etc as a bit of an ice-braker so Belovéd didn't have to make a speech when we told everyone why we were having a bit of a party. There were a lot of leftovers and we're going to be working our way through: cold roast chicken, smoked and unsmoked ham, madelianes, brownies, Twinks, coffee and walnut cake, carrot cake, apple cake, roasted aubergine paté, hummus (not homemade though), sundried tomato dip, and so on and so on. I made gave the vegan and the gluten-free person (take) all the leftovers of their various foods home with them. We've managed to finish a few things, the freezer has a bit of space in it at last, and a lot of the leftovers went in there so we won't need to go shopping for a while for anything other than milk and veg. We have an absolute mountain of cheese - no bad thing. Everyone who'd stayed left on Monday morning and that made me sad, but that's just a reflection on how much we enjoyed the whole weekend.Fortunately we had a couple of days of relatively dry weather this week so I've managed to wash all the bedding, empty the laundry basket and get everything line-dried.Today I finally managed to get all the stuff I bought knowing I was going to donate it back to the local hospice CS bubble-wrapped and boxed up ready to deliver on Wednesdays - I popped down to their shabby chic one on Friday to ask when would be best for them and the manager has asked for three boxes each Wednesday until it's all done. I also have a box for the regular hospice CS and one for the scrapstore ready to go.There will be more.Having spring cleaned the dining and sitting room and revamped them in the run up to the weekend we've both realised we're ready to let quite a lot of stuff go, and both of us want to. Belovéd has managed to halve the quantity of stuff on his office shelves and I've already halved the amount of stuff in one clothes drawer. I've got another drawer of clothes to sort out and the wardrobe contents to reduce by half, and the cupboard under the front steps could do with a savage prune. I'm itching to get some space in every drawer and cupboard in the house now! It's also made me realise that most of the house could do with a bit of a wash, quite literally. It takes an age but washing the walls has given the areas I've done a real lift so my work's cut out over the next few weeks. I may be able to get it all done by Christmas but one thing I hvae noticed is that I no longer can or want to do a whole day's physical work so I'm going to pace myself. Our favourite painter and decorater managed to squeeze us in to repaint the lowest part of the front walls (we have lightwells) in time for last weekend and is coming back to redecorate the bathroom when he's got a day to spare.I quite like the place getting a bit of a revamp.Wren coped very well with all the disruption to her routine, all things considered, but she's glad it's over.Better is good enough.6

Hi all
Fridays presentation was tough, glad it's over. I feel a bit disheartened by work at the moment, I feel like I am putting a lot in but not getting much out. I get paid well but that's not enough is it?
Sorry to hear DD is having problems Fayolle, and lovely to hear about your special weekend HB.See you all on the new thread. New week, new start, and all that.6 -
Thanks @Honey_Bear Sexymouse suggested using Napisan for the tablecloth. I put 50g in with the washing liquid and put in on a two and a half hour cycle and the stain came out almost completely. I can just see still if I look hard but it is very faint. I also used the Napisan on another tablecloth and that came out completely stain-free.Today A's cousin and her husband came for lunch. This morning after church I made the casserole and the crumble (apples only as I forgot to buy blackberries). I had a last-minute S&S in the bathroom and a quick vac in the hall and sitting room (I did both only yesterday but you wouldn't have thought so). After they left I WUPA most things - still a little bit to do. I made supper and now need to finish the lunch WU and the supper things too.6
