Where do you read them from?Any said:No, nothing works.
I send in meter readings by physically reading them and logging them on online
If the meter isn't working by recording your usage how do you send readings, I don't understand?
The Smart meter isn't working-either by sending them readings or showing it on my In home display. But the original years old boxes, that were installed yonks ago and turn the dials with usage are still turning. So I open the cupboard where they are sitting and read the dials.
The old style like we were doing 20 years ago.
This is not the same as Smart meter, that works without your intervention end sends in live usage data.0 -
I did email them and they completely ignored meMeteredOut said:Slite side note, but if EDF arranged an appointment and did not turn up, they should be paying you £30. Put in a complaint.0 -
You might need to post a photo of your meters because from this it sounds like you have an old meter as well?Any said:

A 'smart meter' for electricity is actually a meter with a communication module attached to it. So the meter should be working, recording usage with a display that you can read and use to send meter readings.
The communication module is the bit that's supposed to communicate with the supplier and IHD, and smart gas meter if you have one.

Yes, the old style dials on the old boxes are still working. So you can read readings. But the in home display is not displaying and EDF is not receiving live data. They only get reading when I physically submit them once a month.MeteredOut said:
So the meter is "working" in that it is recording usage, but its not sending the data to EDF. Correct?Any said:No, nothing works.

I'd just start the move to Octopus (get a friend or relative to refer you and you'll get £50 credit each). Hopefully Octopus will get the automatic sending of readings fixed. But, its not guaranteed they will be able to.
Which is not good for Octopus agile or tracker, that needs at minimum readings every half an hour I believe so they can track live usage. Only Smart meter can do that.0 -
A smart meter doesn't have dials!Any said:

Smart meters have a digital display.
Do you really have a smart meter?2 -
£30 is the standard amount a supplier should pay if they break a rule. Additionally, if compensation isn’t paid within ten working days, then an extra £30 compensation applies.Any said:

Seems to be a lot of confusion here.• How many gas meters (fixed to the wall) do you have?• How many electricity meters (fixed to the wall) do you have?• Are your meters within your property, or are they in an external cupboard or meter room?0
-
1 gas meter in a porch, the old style. With turning numbers. Then EDMI inside. Digital. Tis was changed when the smart meter arrived. I get reading manually off those and submit them online. Not sure how to put picture up.Gerry1 said:Seems to be a lot of confusion here.• How many gas meters (fixed to the wall) do you have?• How many electricity meters (fixed to the wall) do you have?• Are your meters within your property, or are they in an external cupboard or meter room?0 -
By the digital new unit, are you talking about the small plastic box which plugs in to a standard three pin socket, perhaps in the kitchen? If so, this is the in house display - not the smart meter. Can you look at your actual electricity meter, the one attached to the wall - and find the make and model and post that detail on here please.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
