Eastleigh? I'd second Fareham as well.A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.
one life, live it!0 -
thanks! I will look into the above, although for some reason, Eastleigh doesnt appeal. Fareham is too far in the wrong direction for me, I think. Cheers, though!0

How about West End?0

I'm in Shirley / Regents Park, basically the border between the two. I used to live in Aylesbury before I moved down here.
If you are wanting North / West, then either Regents Park, Upper Shirley, Bassett are all reasonable places to live. Shirley is ok if you find the right part of Shirley. Regents Park you need to be careful about that you don't end up to near the sewage works as when the wind blows in your direction....
You probably also want to avoid the M271 / M27 / M3 route to Winchester first thing in the morning, the M3 southampton to Winchester is bad enough, but if you have to spend ages just getting off the M271 onto the M27 which it can be like some days it just makes the whole journey a bit of a nightmare.Debts: Mum £3923 0% APR0 -
thanks, Shirley Park!
I do get fed up with the journey to work as it is, from here. Some days it can take up to an hour and a half! Nightmare! I have also seen places on Rightmove in Coxford/Lord's Hill/Aldermoor area which also look interesting. What are your thoughts on those areas?
I have some colleagues at work who live in Southampton and who get the train in. So, that could be a possibility, too. Much quicker!
Do you prefer living in Southampton?
Thanks again.

I was born and bred in Millbrook in the late 50's and it has certainly changed (for the worse) over the years. However, Millbrook covers a large area and some parts are still very nice, including the bit where I grew up.It's BARGAIN, BARGAIN, got it? Bargin my ****.0

I should have added that North Baddesley is ideal for commuting through the back roads (Hursley) to Winchester. We live in North Baddesley and my wife commutes to the hospital in Winchester every day in 25 minutes. Currently Wimpey has brand new 2 bed apartments here for £150,000.It's BARGAIN, BARGAIN, got it? I moved from Kent to Millbrook seven years ago, to be near Uni. We knew nothing about the area, and bought a one bed maisonette (on the Tebourba Way side of the estate) for £40K.
Its fine. We haven't experienced any crime etc, and the neighbours are great. the location is great, so quick to the forest, the town centre, and the motorways.
Yes, there are better places to live, but its definately not the worst."It's official, MSE's harbouring total fruitcakes">^..^<0 -
I grew up in West End, and although it's more built up, it's still ok to live there. Hedge End is even more built up, and near the motorway, but during rush hour the M27 is a bit of a nightmare. Or how about Botley?
North Baddesley is good, or maybe you could get a place above Winch, and commute Southwards?0 -
I work with someone who used to live in Totton while close to the M27 it is a nightmare in the morning to get onto the M27, it would take him anything from 5 minutes to 20 minutes to get up the M271. He's now moved to Bassett which is great because we car share.
grownupgirly, I was born in Aylesbury so it did have that being home feeling about it. I used to live the other side of town to you, I lived in Bedgrove, Broughton and Turnfurlong areas. I much prefer it down here, except for the fact that everyone else thinks that southampton is far way to the south pole and never comes to visit !
If you can get the train in, ie it's not too far to walk the other end, then Banister Park / The Dell sort of area is quite nice which is within walking distance of the Southampton Central train station. Alternatively, St Deny's is ok, I know quite a few people over there, St Deny's station is on the same line as Winchester, though you'd have to take the stopping train rather than the fast train as that goes Southampton Central, Southampton Airport Parkway, Winchester, but does get you to Winchester in about 15 minutes which I'd say is the quickest time in rush hour for me to get from Shirley to the bottom of the M3.
