you can salary sacrifice so much per week (think it's about £55) in return for equivalent amount of childcare vouchers. The money sacrificed is tax and NI free. They are certainly worth more if you are a higher tax payer but it doesn't mean they are not worth it if you're not. As I said they don't come with the 'both parents have to work at least 16 hours to qualify' restriction. I can't help you with exactly how much you'd pay in relation to how much ££'s worth of childcare you'd get, (perhaps barnaby-bear is reading and will help us out with the maths) and you'd certainly have to look into the tax credit side (but that might increase cos your overall salary would be reduced- I think:cool: )but I'd look into it as an option.immoral_angeluk wrote: »As far as I understand with the vouchers they come off your yearly income and then you get paid whats left every month as usual... but according to Martin's article on them they're only really worth it if you you're paying high tax and earning a lot..

I don't think you'd be able to fit in 16 hours at the weekend in retail, max is usually 12-13 hours depending on whether you get paid breaks. Unless you find somewhere with extended Saturday opening hours. Believe me I've tried
