  • I agree that if the virus is in the system restore then turning it off and then on is a good idea. If however you are not an experienced user then turning off system restore as a matter of course and then turning it back on is not a good idea unless directed to do so as part of a cleaning process.

Not running system restore is a matter of choice - I run with it and have never needed to roll back but, murpheys laws etc...

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT.............. whatever it was has come back - well, one thing has - the annoying pop up that keeps coming from system messenger - says something is up and i need to go to (a few different registry.coms) to fix it - when i do it is an ad that charges....im running a full scan with norton at the moment to see if that gets shut again...then will try the others again - it was ok until i re-set up the rest of the families sites - so, will i need to run the scans on all their sites too?

Dont click on the pop-ups if they appear. You need to distinguish the difference between a Windows error message and a internet pop-up.

If you click any part of the pop-up apart from the 'x' to close it down it may install some other spyware/trojan.
