Thanks all. She doesn't worry about having data or using the phone at all, but likes the reassurance of having it with her. If we turn roaming and voicemail off it looks as if she shouldn't incur any charges as incoming calls and texts are not charged it seems. She transferred from BT to EE and has an annual contract so unfortunately is in the gap where roaming is not offered free.On an other matter, my phone with Giffgaff is free in the EU, but is there any risk of connecting to some expensive service as we travel from Newhaven to Dieppe on the ferry? Would it be wise for me to turn off roaming during the crossing?0

I don't know if Giffgaff do a spend cap, but if they do and you set it to zero you shouldn't get any unexpected bills1
