I notice some banks give cash to join but that means switching over. Do they still give that offer for a second account or am I better using Chase? And is chase any good?
You can only get a switch incentive if you switch a bank account to another provider.

I suggest that you try calling RBS again and this time be polite to them and you will probably find that you achieve a greater result.
I raised a complaint as I say I called 3 times now and issue never resolved.
You say it has been less than 30 days, but "issue never resolved", they likely set out 28 days to resolve a complaint and less than 30 days is less than "never". It also appears that tpyou may have been "difficult" with the bank staff, which may be why they hung up on you.

I’m not sure why switching phones would matter. I got a cheap spare until I get the new iPhone 16 in a few weeks.

If I can say open a chase account and use Apple Pay. Whilst not ideal if it’s a solution? Perhaps I can try the card in 30 days again.
So a second hand phone? It may be a device that indicates tampering or was previously involved in fraud which is why they may have locked it out. Or is it linked to a different Apple ID? If you try to add the same card to more than one Apple ID it will lock the card out.

You seem to have a minor issue which will be resolved if you are polite to bank staff and let them complete the complaints procedure. Instead of that you seem to be hugely overreacting, being "difficult" with bank staff not giving them time to resolve the issue. If you want to open another current account then do so, but you also need to be pragmatic about things.
I got it on eBay but it was brand new ran a full serial check and it was unregistered from what i could see? And yes just had the card on my one Apple ID.

Then there will be another issue, possibly related to your previous stolen device issues. Either way just wait for them to complete the complaints procedure and do not be "difficult" with the staff. Expecting them to deal with a formal complaint in a few days is unrealistic, calling them three days in a row is wasting everyone's time.

Chase is fine - it's JP Morgan Chase - and it'll be quickly up and running. Also 1% cashback on debit card spending, max £15pm.
Thanks I got one set up and working. Good you get £15 back. So I would have to move some money over each month maybe keep the savings and mortgage with RBS. I notice you can’t add a second card to Apple Pay so I would have to use Chase. Maybe the RBS card will in future as won’t need Chase but maybe for now it’s better to try this bank.
I do not own an iPhone, however, I know many people that do, and they definitely have more than one card attached to Apple Pay  🤔

I am not sure what you mean. I have 14 cards in my ApplePay, and am sure I could add more if I had any more cards.

There is no 1 card limit in ApplePay.

I had my phone stolen in June in Belgium but I got the card added to my replacement phone. Got new card and changed my online banking details but maybe that's been the issue as it was recent

Presumably once RBS have finished their investigation, you will be able to add your RBS debit card to ApplePay. Nobody on this forum can tell you what the issue with your card is at present

There is a limit to the number of payment (debit/credit) cards you can register with Apple Pay. I believe the maximum number is 8 cards for iPhone models 7 and below, and 16 cards for later models. Transit cards have a separate limit (which was 4 before iOS 16). Cards/passes that don't utilise the Secure Element (such as loyalty schemes) are not subject to either limit, though there could be a total upper limit of 64 cards.

You might be right that there is an upper limit - not that this would appear to be an issue for the OP who barely has 2 cards they want to add.

By the sounds of those Reddit posts, it's not even an issue if I really wanted to add loads more to my current 14 cards on my 15 Pro Max, and on my Apple Watch.

I called the bank twice tonight and was hung up on twice after raising my concern.
Staff are allowed to disconnect less than polite customers. Front line staff are simply doing their job. Staff will also quite rightly log the event.
