Royal bank of Scotland disabled my Apple Pay

So I purchased a new phone and tried to add my bank card. It failed said contact issuer so I checked with Apple all fine and bank said my card was fine. So I got an email today so I can’t use Apple Pay for atleast 30 days and they have the right to refuse me to use it but my card still works in shops. I called the bank twice tonight and was hung up on twice after raising my concern. I raised a formal complaint via the app. So what’s my next steps can I open a new bank account and move my wages over? Any advice would be good thanks

Not sure what happened there. Your relationship with RBS seems to be damaged for some reason
You are allowed current accounts with any bank which takes you on as a customer. Most will offer you CASS - the current account switch service. Google if you need details.Having more than one current account is, however, a good idea, not least because it allows you to deal with issues just like the one you have right now. So you may want to keep your RBS account and just apply for a second one elsewhere. At Chase UK, you get an instant virtual debit card, which you can instantly enable on ApplePay, too. Worth applying perhaps.0 -
When you called the bank to raise your concern, did you also raise your voice and possibly say something to them to cause them to hang up, because it is very unusual for that to happen, especially twice.2

I notice some banks give cash to join but that means switching over. Do they still give that offer for a second account or am I better using Chase? And is chase any good?0

I suggest that you try calling RBS again and this time be polite to them and you will probably find that you achieve a greater result.1 -

I’m not sure why switching phones would matter. I got a cheap spare until I get the new iPhone 16 in a few weeks.gadget88 said:
If I can say open a chase account and use Apple Pay. Whilst not ideal if it’s a solution? Perhaps I can try the card in 30 days again.
You seem to have a minor issue which will be resolved if you are polite to bank staff and let them complete the complaints procedure. Instead of that you seem to be hugely overreacting, being "difficult" with bank staff not giving them time to resolve the issue. If you want to open another current account then do so, but you also need to be pragmatic about things.1 -
