Do quality 'garden clogs' exist?

Both me and my wife like to kick on some 'garden clogs' - we've tried the cheapest on eBay to some known brands, as well as actual Crocs and they don't last more than 18 months or so. We just use them to go out to the bins, get things out of the garage or shed - so a few times a day.

The soles always wear through as they're just a foamy rubber, and not a proper sole.

Does anyone know of anything that will last?

Don't mind paying for something that doesn't unfortunately end up in landfill every couple of years!

Real wood Dutch ones?  Apparently you are supposed to shape the insides to your feet (or have it done) and then they can be really comfortable.

Got mine from Lidl about 15 years back.  I would have thought the plastic would have cracked by now but still quite pliable.  And bright bright green which is nice.

I have some Birkenstocks near the back door, they’re at least six years old, and before my children left home they also wore them. If they do fall to bits I’ll likely replace them with a closed toe version (in the sales). If I need to go onto the garden I have welly clogs.

I've had 'Back door clogs' by my back door for about 10 years. Excellent, do exactly what I need, and delightful quirky 'gardeny' prints!

Now pondering why the men’s ones are chunky tread and the women’s are pretty colours.
I’d quite like the chunky tread option if they’re going to last longer.

My old Lidl ones have been going strong for years, but the last ones they had in didn’t look half as sturdy.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • I got mine from either Aldi or Lidl a few years ago and they're still going strong. The ones they sell now are not the same thing at all imo.

If you want something to just pull on and bob about in, what about those ankle-length wellies you can get now? They have a proper sole.
Thanks for explaining the word 'many' to me. It means a lot.

I have the same, ideal, and I tread the heels down :o instead of putting them on “properly”. So far so good

Oh I like those!!! But can't really justify them.

We have a pair of Crocs which both DH and I use a little bit. For actual gardening, I don't like them because of the holes, but for popping out to the bins they're fine. Definitely quite a bit more than 18 months old.

I did have not-Crocs for a short period, but they made my knees and back hurt so I got rid.

they might be OK for the OP and his wife, but I recommend buying instore if you're going for this option. I spotted an amazing pair on sale once, bought them and found they were VERY difficult to get on and off, even with one of those devices which is supposed to help with that. I tried stretching them (by putting a 4 pint plastic milk bottle full of very hot water inside), but didn't help. Had to give them away. It is possibly just me and my ankles, I have given up on boots now.
