Don't they only price match against physical stores and not online retailers?
It's online as well as instore - Price promise | Currys

I had this problem with Comet some years ago. I asked them to price match with Argos on a washing machine. They refused as with Argos it says "home delivery within 7 days" it doesn't tell you the delivery date till you ordered and paid. Their excuse was the item has to be in stock and it wasn't. So Argos got my business. Within a year Comet went out of business. I still don't miss Comet. I'd say Currys don't deserve your business.

... As an aside, when did "debate me" become a substitute for "debate it with me"?  I've heard it used that way before, and it sounds weird.  Why would Currys "debate you"?  It literally means they'd argue about you among themselves.
It's one of those awful and meaningless americanisms where american english can't deal properly with prepositions.

So an american will "write you" rather than "write to you"

Or "debate you" rather than "debate with you"

Or "appeal the verdict" rather than "appeal against the verdict".

It's almost as sick-making as "reaching out" to someone

(Someone will be along in a minute to say that the americanisms faithfully reflect how english was spoken in the 17th century)
Thanks for reaching out and responding me, bro'.

I quite liked Comet.  Wouldn't use Currys unless there was no alternative.

Is there anything in the terms that gives them an option to refuse to price match for any reason (other than unlawful discrimination, of course)?

    Interesting.

The T&Cs for Currys' price promise are mercifully short and sweet:

We'll match the prices of in-stock products (excluding ink products, delivery charges, installation charges, product protection plans, mobile airtime plans or other services) offered on identical terms and where we can check the price, stock position and where relevant your eligibility to purchase from the competitor.

We'll match against any other UK retailer store or website price including offer-code discounts. We do not match trade prices, prices only available as part of paid for membership/subscription or 3rd party marketplace seller prices.

We do not match exclusive discounts e.g. staff/ student/ NHS staff blue light.

Our competitor's product must be the same model number as ours.

Both us and the competitor must have the product in stock and ready for delivery.

My own Amazon account is on Amazon.co.uk. Everything I buy is through that website and I suspect the OP's account is similar so Amazon purchases seem to be included.

However the OP makes a point of saying he wants to buy from Currys rather than Amazon because of the credit terms offered.
A random tablet for sale on Currys' website says
Flexible credit options - 48 months promotional credit (9.9%) or Buy Now, Pay Later within 6 months, settle in full by 05 March 2025 & pay no interest.

I presume these offers are not available through Amazon which is why the OP prefers to buy from Currys?

Currys price promise T&Cs (above) says '
We'll match the prices of in-stock products...offered on identical terms...'

Could that be the reason for refusal?

They are still around these days online with new owners. I only use Argos now.

Sold by Amazon EU (edit: on the product page – the invoice is a different matter) is not the same as sold by Amazon. It's just like sold by Amazon US, except it's the EU (Germany) instead, and it's an import.

There are different terms that apply to the sale, and expensive items will have the 'Import fees' deposit stuff too.

Here is an example of an expensive such item:

I would not expect them to price match such items. Even Amazon will exclude them from promotions.

Sold by Amazon EU does not mean it is sold by EU(Germany) nor does it mean it is an import.

I've just looked back at the invoice of the last item I bought from Amazon.

Sold by Amazon EU S.à r.l.,
    UK Branch
    1 Principal Place, Worship Street
    London, EC2A 2FA
    United Kingdom

That's the invoice rather than the product page though, and it says UK branch/has a UK address. 'Amazon EU' specifically is a different seller on Amazon.co.uk that you can sometimes filter by.

A previous item I bought that was listed as sold by Amazon EU on the product page actually had a Polish address on the invoice:

    Sold by
    Amazon EU S.à r.l., SP. Z O.O. ODDZIAŁ W
    POLSCE
    Al. Jana Pawła II 29
    00-867 Warszawa
    Poland

(Currently though Amazon seems to list Germany as the address of the 'Amazon EU' seller.)

Updated the previous post to clarify.
