County court letter; euro car park/DCB legal

Hi
I received a county court letter for the above, for a violation from 3+ years ago due to failing to purchase a pay and display (for reasons I was told I didn't need to when I worked in that area the one time).
They are seeking around £300
I don't understand how it works. How should I respond if at all? Will I need to attend the court?
Thanks!

It's going to be very difficult for anyone to offer guidance on how to deal with it without knowing what it is.1 -

It's stamped 'the county court' and addressed from the Civil national business centre in Northampton. It's asking if I want to pay the amount claimed+ £35 court fee +£50 legal representative costs, part fee, defend or counter claim or ignore. That county court letter.0 -
Is 'that letter' perhaps accompanied by a Claim Form?
If so please tell us the Issue Date on the Claim Form.3 -

Yes it is, issue date 28/8/24 and rec'd it todayWith a Claim Issue Date of 28th August, you have until Monday 16th September to file an Acknowledgment of Service, but there is nothing to be gained by delaying it.To file an Acknowledgment of Service, follow the guidance in the Dropbox file linked from the second post in the NEWBIES thread.Having filed an Acknowledgment of Service in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Monday 30th September 2024 to file a Defence. That's over four weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it to the last minute. To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look again at the second post on the NEWBIES thread - immediately following where you found the Acknowledgment of Service guidance.Don't miss the deadline for filing an Acknowledgment of Service, nor that for filing a Defence.
Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an Acknowledgment of Service has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.3 -
A read of the Newbies/FAQ thread, second post in particular would be advisable, even if only to "understand how it all works".3

I was going to defend along the lines of - I was working at a premises behind the car park where a number of businesses are and was told by a staff member that I was allowed to park there as the company had reached an agreement with the parking co, except she didn't tell me to register my car in the log which is the truth.
