Tomato Energy (Electric Only Supplier) - Too Good To Be True ?

I jumped Tuesday. On eon now and have to sit on flexible until my first bill then it's to next Drive. We're used to shifting energy to the early hours now. Annoying all the other hours are 28p KWh ans the standing has gone up. Was good whilst it lasted.1

As an alternative - Good Energy:
1) EV tarrif 6.5p 0-5am then 29p through the day.
2) Heat Pump - 13p 5-9am and 13-16, 29p rest of the day, fixed till October 2026
Imo better than Octopus as it doesn't come with peak 16-19 prices.2 -
This is where Tomato starred for me. I don’t have EV, Solar, Heat Pump etc but Tomato let anyone have the tariff without l insisting on having them.Newbie_John said:As an alternative - Good Energy:

It doesn't look like Good Energy require you to have a heat pump to go on that tariff, the only stated requirement is a smart meter. Octopus no longer require customers to have a heat pump to switch to theirs either (though they do require an EV for Go).tlcgrantham said:

Thanks I’ll check both of them out and compare with my current supplier Fusemasonic said:

Yeah it's all confusing with the requirements.
Some say you have to have, some that you should to make most of the tariff, some don't mention at all.
The EV and HeatPump definitions are tricky too, electric toy car, fridge could count in theory. What if you had an EV and then sold it after joining, or stopped charging because you can charge for free at work etc.
Quote from Good Energy EV tarriffs:
And while it’s aimed at electric car owners who tend to have a higher than average electricity use, you don’t need to have an EV to join the tariff.

If you were previous on a TOU with Octopus you can probably go straight back. I've just gone back on Agile. Probably the same would apply if you had a history remote reads from Octopus.JohnPo said:Thanks all up to date billing wise and meter reporting OK to MyWatts app. I'll roll the dice for a couple more working days into next week and in mean time charge up the EV doing all my washing etc. knowing that once I switch I'll be on an SVT until the new supplier (actually my old one Octopus) confirms smart reads are active before moving to Octopus GO.

do not have to sit on flexible, log in to your account, request tariff switch to next drive, and if they have been able to on board your smart meter you will switch at once (next midnight I think). My whole import switch from octopus to eon took 48 hours. Export took longer.Smith2001uk said:I jumped Tuesday. On eon now and have to sit on flexible until my first bill then it's to next Drive. Left Tomato in May. Final bill just arrived. All billing was fine up until we left. What a joke shop of an operation. . .savings were nice though.0
