There is so much denial of responsibility in that post, it is hard to take it seriously.
Failing to pay the bills on time is not '...doing very fine...'

If Tomato are closing down because of the big fine does that mean the 1.5mill fine is added to their debt and the energy consumers will have to pick up the debts in higher standing charges like before?

Even if that is the case it would be negligible - 15mln debt / 30 mln households = 50p as a one off.. so less than existing daily charge for many.

I wonder if they had anyone that understood the energy market and the obligations that come with having a supply licence working for them?

They were doing fine, if you exclude the fact they failed to meet their obligations,  read meters for over a year and pay suppliers, and that was before the PO.

But yes, its Ofgems fault, seems to me that the regulations worked in this instance, they had a chance to get their house in order but failed (because absolutely noone with half a brain was pumping money into that).

I'm sure Kenneth Lay would have said that everything was running fine at Enron, too.

Somebody has just posted this on the tomato energy Facebook group.  If it is true they are filing for insolvency.

Some people on MSE forum are going to be happy with this news ☺️
That’s a ridiculous statement isn’t it. I suspect the vast majority of non Tomato customers whether on MSE or not will be extremely UNhappy that we’re now likely to have to pick up the tab for a minority of customers having taken advantage of what was blatantly an unsustainable supplier business model - something which was even acknowledged by a number of their customers on here.

The statement from them pretty much seems to sum things up - no acknowledgment of their own failings, and everything is always somebody else’s fault.
    No it's not.

A few months ago there were a few on this thread saying they would be pleased if they went bust as they deserve it.
