Allowing that it feels as though you definitely have no real faith in your current meter OP, then surely the best option here is as Reed suggests above to just get yourself on the list for a replacement ASAP. I have still not received a satisfactory explanation as to why or how these anomalies occurred ... they were definitely not as a result of our actual electrical activity ... although overall, there appears to have been an unexpected but positive advantage in my favour.
And yes ... a new smart meter has been offered ... that, and a possible supplier change are both currently under consideration ...
