Not the same I am sure but I booked Virgin flights at the very beginning of the year and was surprised that there was only one morning flight. However like many travelling to US we, and I suspect Virgin too realised that Thanksgiving is a week late this year and the date booked was actually Thanksgiving Eve. Another flight appeared at an earlier time so arriving earlier in the day and therefore more convenient for those arriving. I asked if I could change expecting a fee but got a flat NO. The new flight is more expensive and I offered to pay but still no so they appear to have motives for these situations to which we are not privy.0

The OP needs to read the T&C of tour operators and airlines. There will be something in there about changes to flight times, and how much the flight needs to be moved by before there is a right to a refund. Flights are often listed a year or more in advance and assumptions made about availability of flight slots. They have to have a degree of flexibility and, like it or not, an 8 hour change is within the T&C of most airlines. If it was changed from a day flight to a night flights it could be different. My sister-in-law is going on holiday on Saturday and the tour operator/airline has changed their flight time 4 times!I'm not suggesting that I like the rules, but as long as the airlines abide by them there is little an individual can do.0

If you ignore the flight numbers and look at the timetable they’ve effectively added an afternoon flight and moved everyone from the morning flight. Disgusting behaviour.

We would all be hacked off by a change in flight times such as described - however if it's within Jet2's Ts&Cs there is no recourse to challenging the legality of it IMO.

True, but it seems that in this instance they have added a later flight and moved existing customers to that flight. Presumably they are now selling the 'new' morning flight at higher prices. A few weeks ago I was checking out flights for next year. To the destination I want, most are early or late afternoon. On one day they have a mid morning flight which would be perfect timing for us and another in the late afternoon. I didn't book the morning flight because I basically don't trust any airline not to pull that early flight, which has a considerable cost premium.

I can see why the OP feels annoyed though, I would too. I still think this should and could be a very easy thing for the operator to fix at very little (zero) cost to them to maintain good will. Jet2Holidays operate entirely on Jet2 flights.... It's not rocket science.1
