I kinda get what born_again is saying though, I have a starling account and joint account, both have my name on them, same card colour etc, just one says joint on it. As it happens I don't use the account as my banking is elsewhere so the card is not in my wallet or phone but it could be mixed up on google pay for example if you are switching between the cards before paying and you don't look carefully.Rob5342 said:
It's pretty obvious that that is what they meant. Someone elses card will have a different name on making it easoly distinguishable.born_again said:
Who knows, as not really clear.eskbanker said:
Presumably OP's point is that they wish to carry one card from their sole account and (their own) one from the joint account, not two from the latter?born_again said:
Cards have to have a different number, or if one needs stopping it is not possible. As they are stopped by card number.j813ys said:Or are they a carbon copy of your other single account?
I can't be having to read the numbers to distinguish between 2 of the same card at the till so may need to use another bank?
The question is why do you have both cards from a joint account? Each party should carry their own.
Pretty common that banks use the same colour cards for bank accounts.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Somewhat sadly, I used to tell the difference between my sole/joint cards by learning the card number of the sole card! These days I'd just write a small "J" on the joint one with a Sharpie if I needed to. However, I no longer carry the joint debit card, just a joint credit card.

You can request what the card has on it in the name field e.g. Mrs J Smith on one and Jane Smith on another. Obviously it has to be your name but varying how it is written just has to be requested30+ years working in banking0
