E7 might be cheaper, if the present electrical heating is run during the night. The assessor, on site, imputes into a computer, resulting in an EPC rating. On going back to basics, the regulations, not assessed on a computer programme, manually, give a slightly higher rating, enough to give the property a score of 41, an E rating, if the property is on an Economy 7 tariff.

And yet it would be more expensive if the present electric heating is run during the day - which is far more common (and much more useful) when it isn't storage heaters.

Out of interest, I've just looked up the SAP10.2 guidance.  And it does seem like SAP, rather than RdSAP, does include some tariff assumptions.

It says that for "direct acting electric heating", 100% of the usage should be assumed to be at the higher day rate for an E7 tariff, and for "non-heating usage" 90% should be assumed to be day rate.

So that would make any direct electric heating more expensive than on a single rate tariff and so if that can influence an EPC rating, it will make it worse.  I mean worse on Economy 7 without storage heaters.

On 23rd June E-on confirmed that Flat12 had a dual Tariff meter. I have phoned regularly to be updated about my request to have the meter returned to an Economy 7 tariff, only to be told that by every Tom !!!!!! and Harry that my request would be escalated. On the 8th Aug I decided to phone every day for an update. This morning I behaved a bit unreasonably and I was told 'Someone' would phone me back. 'Someone' phoned me back !!!!!!!! I am now told I have a broken meter (it emits one signal)-2 months to work that out !!!!!!! 3 months if I include British Gas.I await an appointment for the meter to be replaced................... This sort of 'stuff' is exhausting.
