What's the best way to close the account and get the remaining interest please?  I tried to read through on the thread but I see everyone is having a lot of issues

I just called in to my branch when I was nearby, with the account number and sort code written on a piece of paper. It was closed within 5 minutes, including verifying my identity with my current account debit card.

I have reached an outcome with Virgin about compensation and they now sent an email asking to print a section and send back to them with the details of where the funds should go, name, date of birth, etc.

A rather inefficient and slow process and high risk, with all my details on a pice of paper. Has anyone used a different way? Alternativly, we have a branch in town, which I could visit tomorrow morning, if needed.

I had cause to raise a complaint on another matter earlier this year. I received similar, so replied saying that unfortunately our printer was not working and could they either pay it directly into an existing account with them or suggest another means of resolving. They paid into the account.

Use the account closure form in the browser based internet banking - look in the settings menu, top right. Don't worry that the form says it's to close current accounts, it'll also work for savings accounts.

How long does it take to close please?

For me it was about a week but now that the rush has passed I imagine it'll be quicker.

You've already waited 6 weeks, just another 2 and a half and you'll have your interest without needing to do anything.
I did it online last week,  I'm sure it do if 2 days but was wondering how long the delay was

When is the final interest for this account meant to drop? I thought it was today but no sign of it.

I assume it will be paid into the everyday saver?

I would think the interest will be calculated and credited later today but only visible in the Everyday Saver account from tomorrow, 1st October 2025.

£26.75 just showed up in my Everyday Saver, guessing Virgin just completed a maintenance or partly has because I sent money to my Virgin Current account earlier and it's not showing yet
