If you're not already a Virgin money customer it definitely isn't 8 minutes. Took me over an hour.
I am not already a customer so I had to apply for an M plus account so I could apply for this saver account and it got locked in a death spiral once all the security stuff was done - I couldn't login to the browser-based online banking because I hadn't ever logged in on the mobile app and the mobile app said I had to use the browser-based login first to login the the virgin money app. I rang customer services (about 10 minute wait) and she said it was the third one this afternoon and seemed to finish the application manually except....
Because I didn't get any of the details the proper way, and I would need to wait 3-5 days to get my customer number necessary to login via the post, I had to go through a convoluted telephone banking setup in order to access telephone banking, which comprised of setting a 4 digit pin whilst on the phone with the customer services rep and then ending the call and awaiting a text message. The text message had the wrong instructions in it leading me to another dead end.
i am currently on the phone again and have been for 20 minutes to tell them their telephone banking setup doesn't work either.
I know 'these things happen' but there is clearly a bug in their application process. I wasn't planning spending 90 minutes trying to do a 15 minute application, so be prepared to wait around.0 -
Not good...
My wife, applied as a new customer for the M Plus and then the 10% Saver on the app on her phone, all done in < 5 minutes.

Got a statement letter in the post for this account dated 02/08
The interest summary states you get 10.00% gross/10.38% AER for 0-249 and 0% for 250+
Is that right?0 -
The £250 is per month. Full interest on the first £250 each month.1

Sorry did make it clear, the letter implies £249 gets the 10% and £250 gets 0%. I thought it would be £250.01+ would be 0%.
Only a quid, but not seen it like that before on other savings accounts I've got.0 -

I'm getting £120 compensation from Virgin Money for the issues I had opening their Regular Saver + a week's worth of interest added to my regular saver, I'm more than happy with that, didn't even have to beg or anything.
Started at a weeks interest, then £100 for website issues, then £20 for the calls I made/callback that didn't happen.
Guess Virgin Money were in a generous mood.
Might be worth registering complaints & getting callback if not already 😏😉0 -
The saga of setting up an M Plus account continues. I got my card, which in turn gave me my sort code and account number, which, in turn, essentially should have allowed me to obtain my customer number, so as to log in to online banking but...... computer says no. At the very last step of online banking, where you setup the password, you *must* have access to the mobile app, which gave a message of "we cannot find your application". The only route forward was to call again. Been on the phone for 20 minutes holding.0
