It looks like a Catnic lintel was installed.1

And the builder will have the receipts.stuart45 said:It looks like a Catnic lintel was installed.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Is that good? And are these photos good enough to show Building Control and to satisfy them that the building work is safe and sound?
By the way, this is a 3 storey house (in case weight of wall above matters).0 -

If so, I wish they'd say. They keep dodging the question of what lintel is above the new front door and what insulation is in the old sealed-up doorway...

Catnic lintels are fine for the job. Whether Building Control would accept that photo I wouldn't like to say.1404 said:stuart45 said:It looks like a Catnic lintel was installed.

Well if you can see what it is hopefully Building Control can too. And hopefully the builder confirms it, but they are not being responsive. Perhaps they'll be more responsive of called by Building Control.
As for the insulation in the old doorway, I actually don't think they put any in. On the inside, the plasterboard is right on the grey breeze blocks. On the outside, as seen in the photos, the red bricks were laid with no insulation visible. So presumably insulation needs to be injected inside that area?0 -
It's possible that the cavities are clear and insulated plasterboard was used.
Back in 2002, the U values were higher than now.
The builder might have reused the lintel from the window.0 -
Is this the lintel? I assumed this was a gap where the lintel was going to go

This is what was above the window which was taken away to make way for the door. The door was moved a foot to the left of where the window was.

These are the only pictures I have of the plasterboard. Not sure if you can tell if they are insulated from these pics?
