No Ball Games ..Where Do I Stand...Please

We had a neighbour who objected to the kids on the street kicking a ball about. Would go into a screaming rage at them if the ball came near his car. So they used his car as the back of the goal! Think the local lads would do the same with your sign.
Instead I asked them if they wanted to earn £5 by washing my car. They became very protective of it.
So as someone suggested go in goal. Or at least engage with them. Maybe get them to help with your garden so they try to stop the others running the ball into the flower beds or whatever.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I think the time to do your surveillance and judging was before you bought the property as it is clearly not the right place for you to live.3

QUOTEBut you are certainly very unlucky in your neighbours. Only three of them, and there's this family, the drunk whose boyfriend kicks in her door, and ???? What's the third one like?
The other renters are lovely people with a small baby. They too are upset with the constant football as it keeps waking their baby. They are happy for me to do what I can to stop it!!!0 -
But just because someone is on benefits Does not mean that they are not house owners.
Do you actually own any part of the square in front of your house? Was it clearly marked as such on the deeds etc
Thanks for the comment ....I rermember seeing it was shared ownership oion the deeds.....its not partitioned off. They are definately not homeowners ....any of them.0 -

The other renters are lovely people with a small baby. They too are upset with the constant football as it keeps waking their baby. They are happy for me to do what I can to stop it!!!The OP is frustrated by a situation that many would find an issue. I would. I suspect "reading the room" regarding his descriptions and choice of words is less important to him than resolving the problem.I've had the football booted at my property situation, I asked nicely, then asked not so nicely. One of the parents backed them up "Where do you expect them to play etc?" I just said "Not my place to provide an answer" butI wanted to say 'Well there is a park 100 yards away, or they could boot the ball against your wall or garage. 'They took to doing it only when I was out, but didn't care if wife or kids were in. I caught them one evening and even though they ran off the football - yes heavy leather - was left behind. In frustration after shouting for them to go away (not my exact words) I picked up the ball and drop kicked it down the close. It was the best kick of my life. I couldn't achieve the height and distance again if you paid me. I swear to you it went about twice the height of the house roof and in an arc directly onto the guttering of a house at the bottom of the close breaking the plastic gutter. It was the house of one of the kids booting the ball at our house. Totally unintentional, but hey ho, accidents happen. And where else do you expect me to kick the ball??None of the kids complained to their parents and presumably got the blame for the damage to their own house. Thankfully they stopped using our side garden and wall for football after that.I realise that isn't a viable sollution and I was lucky none of the kids took revenge damaging anything (that I am aware of) because these things can escalate quickly. Nevertheless it was a great shot!!Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.6 -

I say again the other people who are commenting are not being really understanding in my opinion.
This has gone on a while.....If I had just put there are some kids outside kicking a ball around I suspect people would have ignored the post.Like you there is a council provided playground near me.....with metal goals and basketball nets.I have suggested they use that for their impersonations of Jude Belligham..
My Partner used to come and sleep here (its near to her work ....she works nights) but she doesnt come anymore during the day as its too noisy.I have rung the Police. They were paricularly interested in the kids smoking dope.

Who owns the "square" outside your house? If it is a housing association contact them for help, if its a management company for the development they might assist, or if its council land contact the council.
You might also want to contact your local councillors for assistance generally, they can be useful in this sort of thing. Or the police regarding antisocial behaviour.
However please avoid the discrimatory language your original post was framed with, don't pass judgement, just be factual that people/children have been kicking the ball against your property from the shared land.3 -
Mustbeananswer?? said:LinLui said:I am entirely unclear what relevance their source of income, residential status, whereabouts of a father, marital status of the mother, the number of children and the "possible adult / not entirely specific ages" of some of the male children (do girls not play football round your way, or are they weaker at kicking the ball?) has to do with playing football on the square? If you could possibly explain the relevance of these things, then it would be really helpful.
I agree that footballs hitting things can be annoying. But it is their square as well. I may be off the mark here, but I suspect that the escalation of the problem might just have something to do with what might come across as a pretty poor attitude towards people you think you are better than? Perhaps if you tried a more positive approach?
PS - my garage door is very expensive.
PPS - if you have a very high roof and they can actually throw a heavy leather football that high, perhaps you could refer them to the English football team, or possibly the basketball team? Both are in need of great players.
Because being in possession of testicles makes all the difference doesn't it OP?
The 1950's called, they'd like their attitude back.5 -
Approaching the Mother clearly has no effect.Mentioning the Father(s) would increase my chances as there are a number of different targets......nothing to do with Testicles in fact.I have been told how many Fathers I could target....but it is not fair to mention on here !!
