As the odd time, I see it said as:
It is our choice to take Airlines offer of alternative flight or we go get our own & put EU261 claim in.
I don't really understand what you're saying here?  In theory the airline is obliged to offer you rerouting, but sometimes passengers to have to make their own arrangements and reclaim, especially if there are time pressures such as last minute cancellations on the day and there are issues with contacting the airline - however, if you're offered a reroute (as with the scenario in your OP) then you don't get unilateral latitude to choose something else and recharge it.

Yes your view, is same as my view, except for the much later flight times. And then they do offer refund.
Likewise, I don't follow what you're trying to say here either?  My view (in terms of my understanding of how the rules work and are interpreted, rather than a personal opinion about what might be fairer or better) remains as above, i.e. a replacement flight on the same day (even much later) and route is likely to be seen as compatible with regulatory obligations and therefore there wouldn't be any requirement for the airline to reimburse the passenger for choosing another airline's flights that are closer to the original schedule.

Yes as you've said, I've read on some sites that the passenger can choose whether to take alternative flight with same airline, or go get another airline. Yet the way Ryanair explain it, is like we haven't got a choice, we either take Ryanair's flight or refund.

Yes I get what u saying on your second point.

The truth is somewhere in between!  Naturally airlines will present alternatives as 'take it or leave it', but it's not as simple as that if their proposal is unreasonable (e.g. many days later or via an unnecessarily convoluted route, when there are better options available), so in such circumstances it may be viable to object and either insist on the airline rebooking on better alternative or to pursue them for costs after doing so independently.  However, it's certainly not the case that passengers can expect reimbursement if they simply choose to go elsewhere without adequate justification....
