So very cross with my best friend. Am I over thinking?

    Sorry for your loss.

Another take on it - and sorry if I'm wrong. You said she didn't know your brother well. So, are you sure that it is your brother's death she is referring to? She could have had another berevement which just happens to be simliar?

I think I'd drop her a private message and tell her how you feel.

Thank you all for the replies. having slept on it I do think I was giving it more importance than needed.

It is quite 'her' to do this sort of thing. When the queen passed away she had about 5 days of 'I cant stop crying' and sympathy comments and she certainly wasn't a personal friend  of the queen!

Im going to just let it go, I wont see her till just before Christmas when we have our next meet up and despite this happening I dont want to lose a life long friend and she is lovely in other ways.

I think this is the answer -  sounds like she is a bit of a drama llama and gets swept up in the whole thing - agree best thing is to let it go
  • So sorry to hear of the loss of your brother.

Has your friend had a significant bereavement in the past? A less personally significant loss such as an acquaintance or a celebrity can reopen grief from a very significant loss. . I think this was why there was a big outpouring of grief at the deaths of Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth by people who didn’t know them personally.

I'm just loving the expression 'drama llama'! :)
