Looking for a new network, ideally with free EU roaming. Looked at Lebara but don't know much about them. Moving from EE. Any thoughts please? Thanks

Have been with Lebara for about 5 years now and had no issues. Travelling around Europe had no roaming charges in countries we visited. Cheap too!
  • Would you be happy with the coverage that Lebara (use Vodafone) at home?

I have used them and although their customer service was poor the phone service was fine.

Yeah, unfortunately seems even worse than EE for customer service. No clue re phone signal though.

This is good to know - thank you. Have you ever had cause to contact customer service? If so, how were they please?

I’ve not had Lebara or Vfone before so unsure what coverage is like here. Concerning re the customer service - what was poor about it? Were they just a bit slow, or did they mislead you or make mistakes etc.? Is it an Indian call centre?

  • I have no idea where their call centre is.

When I ported my number to them it got "stuck".  They were adamant that this was an issue with my iPhone and Apple would need to sort it.

After a some back and forth the nice person at Apple explained to me what I needed to say to Lebara and basically I talked them through what needed to be done to sort everything.

    Since then no problems.

If you don't know what the coverage will be like then don't jump before checking. I have moved networks as needs demand.  I was with EE but when I moved to another part of the country their coverage was hopeless so changed.

A deal breaker for me is WiFi calling. If the network doesn't offer it then I am not interested.

Lebara offer monthly rolling contracts so, if you don't like them you can move on easily enough. There are plenty of really cheap deals around starting at around 99p per month.

I've tried them out and they were OK but wifi calling can be an issue. It worked for me until I ported a number over and then it stopped!

If you want cheap then look at RWG mobile. They use the EE network. You can get monthly deals with EU roaming included.

Whatever you do, don't switch to Lyca mobile! You have been warned

The problem with moving across to test is I have a fantastic plan with EE, it’s just their customer service that is awful now. So if I switch away and then switch back, I won’t be able to get an offer with them anywhere near as good :-/

Wifi calling is also important to me - I read something odd about it not being straight away either.

Thanks for that re Lyca - I was looking at them earlier today. What were the key reasons to avoid them please?

If you think EE is bad then you aren’t going to be happy with Lebara. Lebara customer service is much much worse. (I have both)
