Difficulties buying online in France.

Has anyone else had difficulties buying goods online in France? We have a holiday home there and tried to buy some garden chairs online from the Carrefour site. All went well until I tried to use my Starling Euro card to pay. When I had to put in the address associated with the card the site would not accept an English post code. Starling say I cannot register the Euro card to my French address. Is there a simple solution to this? I could phone Carrefour but fear my schoolboy French would not be adequate to explain the problem. We do not want to get a French bank account if we can help it.

Have you tried putting the French address in even though it's not linked to your card?  I suspect that many systems don't check every detail and it's possible the order could go through.

I have quite often successfully ordered things to be delivered to a friend's address and have not bothered to type in  my (different) card address.

Some sites in various parts of Europe, require local addresses to buy.
I had issues with some sites in the Netherlands for example.

As stated above, you could try a local address, but this may not work if they check the address of the card owner.

Many thanks. I haven’t tried just typing in the French address in the ‘Card address’ place so I will give that a go next time. Not confident it will work though….
