Moving to android when have ipad/apple tags/apple watch etc

My iphone 13 mini is starting to play up and I really don't want to pay silly apple prices for a new phone. I can get a decent pixel for much less money - but currently as well as phone have an apple watch (which I know will go dumb without an iphone) many of mine and kids possessions tracked with apple air tags. How much tracking capability do you have from android with apple tags? We moved over to air tags as the tiles kept running out of power and being unreliable so wish to stick with the apple ones if possible (plus kids still on apple)

Thanks

You don't really have any tracking capability - there's an app to detect them (anti stalking) but not an app that works with them to find where they are.
  • Thanks - that's so helpful - I had a suspicion it was only that from what I read.

    Hmmm, decisions

  • Have you considered a refurbished iphone?

I haven't bought a new one for years.
Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid

  • Yes but even then it'll be a few hundred, never buy them new or on contract

  • If you are invested in Apple then I think it would be false economy to get an Android phone.

Given the issues with secondhand phones (i.e. the previous owner reports them as stolen having sold them to make an insurance claim, rendering the phone "bricked"), I wouldn't buy anything other than a brand new phone.
  • I've never had an issue with refurbished phones from reputable dealers.

Bit of a wildly generalised statement, the networks themselves sell refurbished handsets at times.

Just highlighting a risk of buying secondhand.

The last few phones I've bought for me abed the kids have been second hand from CEX with a warranty of at least a year.

I think I am stuck with Apple for now though
