I would send DCB Legal (in your son's name) an email reply that says:

... no, if you were serious you'd have made that offer at Mediation. Your conduct is wholly unreasonable.

I am preparing my Witness Statement and will attend any hearing. You probably missed it in my N180 but I live and work in Inverness.

I am telling you this now because my return train fare from Inverness to Stoke is £188 each way and would require two overnight stays either side of an in-person hearing because the journey takes the best part of eight hours each way.

Your potential costs exposure (should I attend a hearing and succeed) is around £500 at the current estimate.

You may not be aware but I paid you an extortionate £xxx already for PCN ref xxxxxx (receipt attached, your ref xxxxxxx) for another unfair PCN from this same Claimant in 2024, at a time when I didn't realise what an 'outrageous scam' is reportedly being operated by the parking industry and their limpet legals. That 'scam' phrase was from the mouth of an MP in 2018, followed by the DLUHC Minister stating in writing in 2022 that he considered the sums involved to be 'extorting money from motorists'.

I'll see you in court this time unless you take a pragmatic view, be happy with the sum already rinsed from me, and discontinue in a timely manner before I waste time on my Witness Statement, associated postage and buy my train tickets.

You've had my money once. Not this time.

Well that happened quickly!!

Following the advice of Coupon-mad my son sent the below reply to the DCB Legal final settlement offer via email for £200 instead of the extortionate £516.10 they had conjoured up for 2 incidents.
The email was sent on Monday 3rd Feb 2025 and he had a reply today, Tuesday 4th Feb 2025. See below the quoted reply from my son to DCB Legal:




"Dear Morgan,

Your potential costs exposure (should I attend a hearing and succeed) is around £900 at the current estimate.

You may not be aware but I paid you an extortionate £297.16 already for PCN ref ***********, claim number **********, for another unfair PCN from a similar rogue Claimant in 2024, at a time when I didn't realise what an 'outrageous scam' is reportedly being operated by the parking industry and their limpet legals. That 'scam' phrase was from the mouth of an MP in 2018, followed by the DLUHC Minister stating in writing in 2022 that he considered the sums involved to be 'extorting money from motorists'.

Most of all we would like to say thank you for all of your help and advice. My son works hard (Royal Mail Parcels currently)whilst living how he wants to live, mostly outdoors mountain biking, climbing, walking and exploring. He still has very little money and as soon as he does his student loan repayments will kick in for his 2020 non existent forestry and arboriculture covid fiasco course. This little win is really good news and it saves me quite a bit of time also.
