I'm assuming the date you mean is 12th August. In which case you should file your Acknowledgement of Service (AoS) no later than 31st August. There is no advantage to delaying the AoS. Follow the PDF instructions on filing the AoS linked to in the Newbies/FAQ thread.
By filing the AoS in time, you would then have until 4pm on Monday 16th September to file your defence.1 -
