Flight to Australia delayed in Sing, any compensation?

Flew to Oz on a BA booking, BA to Sing Qantas to Brisbane. Delayed in Sing and arrived over 3h late. Clearly left uk and changed in Sing, but am I entitled to compensation? BA and Qantas both saying no… thanks

Plane arrived late, there was bad weather the day before but they had time to find alternative planes. Query is more about the EU comp, and if it applies if have to transfer given flight distance I think…

If it was a Qantas flight out of Singapore then EC261 wouldn't apply I don't believe.

I can’t see any BA flights delayed by more than 3 hrs into SIN recently (you have not given flight number or date). Was this BA15/08JUL? Do you mean you missed your connection in SIN and arrived more than 3 hrs late into BNE.

The access I have to flight data records does not go back that far.  Someone else on the forum who has a full subscription might be able to look back to your travel date.

I did add your flight to the flight checker tool on Bott & Co.  This gave a result that the flight had not been delayed for that length of time (3h+ on arrival) to SIN. They would not take on your claim for compensation.   This seems to be what the airline has told you.

So you're covered from an UK261 perspective if the delay was within the control of the airline if the final arrival into Brisbane was delayed by over 3 hours. You claim off QR in this instance.

The case law here is Gahan/Buckley -v- Emirates.

However, if the delay into Brisbane was less than 3 hours, or partially due to factors outside the control of the airline, you may not be due anything
