All my debt payments are accounted for in my monthly total and the bulk of payments planned for this pay month are made on payday. Never the less, it's so satisfying to cross off the little bits that come out by dd during the month and know that things are actually going down - another bit off Very this morning. Worst though is H'fax as that's 16th - am so impatient! Mind you that'll be gone in 2 more paydays.

Obviously some schools back round here - traffic rubbish this morning. My teenmonsters have a 4 more lie ins to go before y11 and y12 hit them.

Dids a "bad" thing - booked wintersports trip for teenmonsters & I for next Easter!!! Found a stonking deal and Easter 27 is early so snow should be good. Budget for trip is £2.5k about half will be paid by 2nd job, the rest will be spend when actually away so that's a March / April worry.

OMG, forgot the list of 6th form resources teenmonster needs for Monday - that's £150 out the door, including dinner money top up for the week. I really want to ask xh for a contribution but I know he bought the necessary suit which was a similar amount so suspect I'd just get snapped at.

  • The Easter trip sounds fab… I can’t remember your time frame, but you’ll be close to your debt free date by then I’d imagine. Good way to celebrate ☺️

    thank you!

I hope that by end December payday, the debt will be well under £2k (basically ~£100 pm of the remains of the BCard 0% balance transfer expiring Feb 28). I have to assume that from January I have the 0.6fte job only at this point and a much constrained budget so minimal scope for debt repayments. Of course the battle then is to not overspend and end up in a mess again.

In the funny way sometimes life goes thanks to other people working inadvertently in your favour, looks as if the 2nd job might get extended not just in months but fte if I can push the 0.4 to 0.5fte over 2 days. I need to come up with a business case and may even wangle some line management duties out of it too to add to the CV.

Obviously from a dfw point of view this sorts things in the next 5 / 6 months and opens up a teenmonster#2 post-GCSE holiday to match #1's massive school post-GCSE sports trip July just gone.

  • Nice! My contractual hours are 37.5 over 4 days and I find it great. I get a long weekend every weekend 😍

I can also flex my day off, so if I want to go away for a long weekend I have the first Friday off and second Monday off. It really helps preserve annual leave

Would be nice if I the 0.5 over 2 days helped me getting a day off but the other contract is 0.6 over 3 days. Fortunately as both are based on 35 hrs this total is only 38.5hrs per week so not mad hours by any stretch. I've worked 0.8 for a long time and that Monday / Friday flex was brilliant, I do miss my free day but needs must.
