Spendy couple of weeks - as expected, dishwasher quote degenerated into new kitchen quote!

Quote was a lot less than I thought it would be and a 1 year ISA maturing so am going to use that for the fitting, the units etc are coming out a mix of current account and Lyds card, I've discovered payin3 so feels better somehow than putting it on "proper" credit. I have spent hours looking for deals, found a high st (well retail park these days!) electric outlet on Ebay so dishwasher for under £150 delivered and the units are partly from the orange diy shop as they fortuitously had a 15% code last weekend. Current project cost for new kitchen inc fitting is comfortably under £3k. The plumber quote also includes a niggling bathroom job.

So that's a LOT of money out - new money in is teenmonsters helped me clear out the garage and someone else on the estate is going to rent it for storage from next weekend, 75 quid a month.

    July 2024 £12,150  May 26 Bclycrd £4,096, Hfax £3,032, Lyds £1,394, PPin3 £170, Klarn £57, Very £16 Total £8,765 yay another £1k barrier smashed!!

Had my first garage rental payment arrive at the weekend - 50 quid to b/card, 25 quid to an impromptu lunch out with a very good friend. Next month I will be using the full 75 quid on debt.

Kitchen stuff all delivered apart from the orange diy shop stuff which is due on 15th. The ebay electrical outlet shop delivered the dishwasher to the door which was a result being in a walk up flat - I was half expecting them to leave it in the lobby! DP helped me at the weekend (well he did most of it, I supervised!) do last bit of old kitchen dismantling we could do in advance of the fitting.

Debt pottering on downwards, despite spending on DIY stuff partly as have used the interest from matured savings to pay a bit of the b/card off. Still very slow progress but should stay under £10k for the month.

Well, I wasn't expecting that: quite a day to day frugal month and I've smashed down through the £9k barrier!!! Tis payday today so have paid what I can and accounted for all the various direct debits for the month and that's how it ended up. Feeling like I am actually getting somewhere!

Going to need to be another sensible month as only have £741.45 to get through til next payday for all groceries, commuting, petrol, socialising and odds and ends but nothing major on and next payday is in 4 weeks with the bank holiday at the end of May so how hard can that be?!

Daft things like a broken hoover, extra kitchen stuff I'd not ordered but was needed and a couple of social weekends did not keep me below the £9k barrier this month but payday very very soon should sort that though I do have the quarterly overseas support "bill" to pay next week and the remains of assorted payin3 type bills over the next few weeks. Also need to keep up stocks of vast quantities of GCSE revision biscuits for teenmonster#1 🤣

Some potentially very good news though - almost certainly have secured some freelance work at a higher day rate than I initially thought 🎉. DP encouraged me to do go in at a higher rate and it seems to have been accepted, his basis that women are well known for underselling themselves and men usually over egg! It does mean I'll have the headache of having to register for self-assessment as will have salary + day rate income. Vague plan is to split day rate work income in 4: tax liability savings account / pension / debt / actual savings.

Realised DDs over the next couple of weeks will see the back of one of the bnpl accounts - it was the initial deadline I thought I'd have cleared everything else by too but that clearly didn't happen. oh well.
