And another potential car bill .... 3 points or spend 100 quid on a speed awareness course? Need to do some serious meal planning for a couple of weeks to pay for that.

Actually considering the years I've been driving and the number of times I've no doubt gone over limit, probably lucky I've not been caught before.

It never rains but it pours hey. I found the awareness course I did quite informative (and I think the fine was payable whether you did the course or took the points) but frustrating when that 100 quid could have gone elsewhere.

Oh is it 3 points + fine, might as well do the course then!

Annoyingly, had just agreed with DP to do our first "blended family" trip away at half term too so some serious penny pinching now to pull both of those off. I can't back out on that trip because of my stupidity!

Just double check the letter - mine was a few years ago now (one of the bonuses of having my car playing up is that I very much pootle along these days 😂)

  • Have reluctantly withdrawn £500 from my premium bond account (stashed from years ago) to help with car MOT & service cost, speeding fine and contribution towards half term break with DP and all 4 of our teenmonsters. Handily get paid the day we go so can do the half tonne food shop that morning!

It’s 3 points plus £100 fine or speed awareness course

Well 4 teenage boys eat a LOT - add to that the weight of my wine and his beer to cope with said boys and there's your half tonne! It'll be our first "blended family" break away so both dreading and can't wait for it.

Sports tour teenmonster#2 and I went on last March is being repeated this year - I know it's more "debt" obligation (£490) but it was such a blast last year and brilliant team building for him so I've signed us up. I can't put their life completely on hold while I sort out my finances, there are compromises enough already.
