Read on OpenVegas today that Rio's Masquerade in the Sky is ending on 8th April.

I think this means that we're going to finally go ahead and get tickets to ride in the floats next week as we've always thought about it, and this will be our last chance. I know they sit you down and buckle you into a seat and that you don't get a chance to throw beads or anything, but we have a 2-for-1 coupon (at least I think we do!) and it's something like $13 per ticket...if nothing else it will keep us off of the slots for an hour or so. :)

If that is the case we might have to do the same thing, we also have a 2 for 1. Do you have to book in advance?

I had a look at their website last night and it appeared that you could have booked for that night online, so I assume you don't have to book too far in advance from the box office either...it looks like you choose a specific day and time and book tickets for that day and time so I would imagine that some sell out earlier than others. Also since I know we have gotten 2-for-1 vouchers in the room when we have stayed at Bally's, I would think that it's not regularly booked up as most people only stay 3-4 days so the vouchers would not be worth much otherwise. I did read on the website that you had to be at the main stage 30 minutes before the show you had booked.

Trets - I don't know if they are planning on replacing it with anything - I think the news came from Norm's column in the Vegas paper and it said that 70 people would be made redundant as a result...so if they are replacing it with something I would think it would be some time down the line.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Reading on LVA forums it seems they are not and Harrahs are cutting every overhead they can there. The Sea food buffet was closed for example , as have several restaurants. there is talk of being purchased it by a independant.

such a shame as the Rio is a nice place . it only has the WSOP now , but watch that get moved if it gets sold .

Ordered dollars with Travelex for collection at Belfast International on Saturday, fly to Vegas from Manchester on Sunday. I know it's a little bit late, but applied for Post Office Credit Card today, will be interesting to see if it arrives by Saturday!! Not getting hopes up. Should've got finger out weeks ago when I booked, but been too busy working.:o

Thanks Trets for all your help, really appreciate it. Will take pics and post them when we get back.

Weather not looking too good for Sunday, thunderstorms possible with rain and 13C. Hope it picks up rest of week.

No unfortunately not :o I was in such a hurry trying to apply online before my phone went again, that I just went straight to Post Office without going through Quidco. After I hit the final button which said I'd been approved did it dawn on me!!

Ah well, I can't get everything right ALL the time!

Looks like the Rio show in the sky is only closed for a short time.

Thanks photome - now what to do? Go ahead and try it out (as a bit of a recce for ou trip with my in-laws later this year) or wait until the all new and improved version is up and running? Decisions, decisions!
