CCJ - Issued to an old PO box

Hi,
I just wanted to get peoples opinion on my situation -
02/07/24 - Just found out I have a CCJ against my name for a parking "fine" (UKPC), but to an old PO box address (car has never been registered there, they must have pulled from my credit file?)
I have no dealings with this company anymore, it has not been in use for at least 1.5 years.
The CCJ was issued on 27/06/24, the fine was issued in Jan 2024. I know what car it was registered to, and also the location - provided to me by the court.
The fine is £285, DCB solicitors it has gone to.
I'm wondering if its really worth going through and paying £300 to have the CCJ removed, and then fighting this in court, if the fine is £285? I'm worried about the chances of it being kept on my record, but at the same time I really don't want to hand over my money to these crooks.
What do people think of my chances of actually getting it overturned? And then being reimbursed?

Just to add note -
I have never been registered here with the DVLA, I thought if it was a parking fine they would have to get my address via DVLA to where the car is registered to?2 -
Interesting. First thing, you never received any "fine" so please stop referring to it as such. A speculative invoice from an unregulated private parking company for an alleged breach of contract between the driver and UKPC is what was received.
If the CCJ was issued to an invalid address, then it is likely that you would get the application fee back when you successfully get the CCJ set aside. Whether you feel aggrieved enough to apply for the set aside, the only other way you are going avoid having this on your credit record for the next 6 years is to pay it in full within 30 days of the judgment.
Are you saying that in your credit record at one stage you were registered as residing at an address which was a PO Box number? At the time of the alleged parking event, at what address was the car registered at according to the V5C? It would be that address that UKPC first got any details of the registered keeper and it would be to that address that they would have sent any PCN.
Under the normal process of receiving a PCN from UKPC, if the advice provided is followed, in 99.999% of cases it ends up being discontinued after a court claim is served. You would need to explain how you never knew about the original PCN and why, if UKPC never had any response to the PCN they did a credit reference search and found an old PO Box address as your "last known address" for service.3 -
Hi
That is correct, when I was working around the UK I used the PO address so I can retrieve mail - I was working away from home a lot.
V5C has never changed from my permanent address for the past 6 years, this was issued in Jan 24.
I have had 0 correspondence from them, they haven't sent anything to my permanent residence/where my car is addressed too. Certainly no court documents.1 -
Just to reiterate - my car has never been registered to the PO box. Its only ever been registered to one address2

Thanks for your input by the way - I think I might go down the route and see if they are willing to negotiate 50% off to avoid the hassle.
If not then I'll appeal it0 -
Personally I wouldn't bother
If the two addresses are not linked the ccj will have no effect you. Nor will it effect your credit file
So do nothing if that's the case1 -
Hi
It's currently on one of my credit reports already.
The PO box does show up as an address of mine, as it must have updated from when I changed my bank address to get any correspondence sent to the PO box1 -
You cannot negotiate it down, nor can you appeal it , nobody mentioned either, because they are not relevant
Its either dont do anything, or pay in full to avoid it going on your credit report, or set it aside in the usual manner
You must decide on the best strategy for you, which is typically a set aside
It is too early to be on a credit report, the CCJ gives you 30 days to pay in full, it was only issued a week ago1 -
see here
Do I dispute this with TransUnion then?0 -
Thanks for your help with this0
