"If I had made the parking error, I would absolutely pay the fine myself."

What error .....private parking companys are not a authority and cannot issue fines .
They just make it all up to illicit money from people silly enough to pay them ....they are scammers .
  • It is obviously the drivers responsibility, but he should mention to his friends that he got a fine… and real friends would insist it’s split evenly.

It depends ....as its impossible for the PPC,s to know who was driving and you never engage or ring them and put your foot in it....you never ever contact debt collectors because you are dealing with scammers who will lure and deceive you.

Never let on who the driver is .,,if you educate yourself over on the private parking forum you will understand why plus alot more.

Its not a fine either  thats a complete untruth as no authority exists they are not police or council etc .
Its a speculative invoice from a unregulated private parking company ie 100% cowboys ...the whole thing is a billion pound con annually.

Hence all the mse emotive inspired incorrect opinion on here .....only helps to fund a major UK scam

The vehicals registered keeper would be contacted with letters from the PPC ,Scamsolictors and/or powerless debt collectors .......after they buy your details from the DVLA for £2.50 a pop who freely gives out the Data making millions per annum

You must keep your current address up to date with the DVLA this is very very important.

Often all three ....the PPC,s, Scamsolictors and Debt collectors are in the same offices and add illegal costs ie they are all in bed with each other.
The Appeals process is another con as they are also in bed with the PPC,s who fund them.

MP,s have stated that the PPC,s are as useful as  a multi story car park in the Gobi desert.
At no point do they ever manage parking they only illicit money via Threat ,Legal bluster and Severe Bully type tactics

Use the links from the known posters above who are the most knowlegable in the UK as opinion is worthless and can actually lead to a CCJ if you ignore a letter before claim.
Even if it goes to small claims court and you defend you wont pay the PPC,s exaggerated/inflated costs and you have 30 days to pay so no BALIFFS are ever going to arrive its all just intimidation and legal bluster

  • Reading the latest replies I would have thought that a group of freinds when parking should all be looking for any parking restrictions, the land they parked on is a private area with discretionary parking rules which if using, must agree to.
Ultimately, the driver is responsible for his actions. If his freinds are aware of his dilemma, I’m sure they would contribute.

What does your husband think is more importnat than what you or we think.

    What does he think?
Given this was a MMD 5 years ago, are you assuming there's a real person submitting the question rather than the forum bods either not being thorough enough on checking what has gone before or purposely rehashing the old MMD expecting people not to remember.
That would apply to all replies on this thread

I disagree, if you all go out together,  you should all chip in for petrol and in this case a fine as well. Somebody had to drive, so why should he be landed with all the costs?
Simply because he was the driver in charge of the vehicle and decided to park without noticing or realising there would be restrictions.

Should his passengers be asked to contribute to a speeding fine ?

Anyone paying private parking scammers based on what they say and demand is being completely fooled ..
Even the latest statement they have made in the press is utter rubbish aimed to confuse givern new laws are on the way .
  • In our local Range store, they can register that your car is likely to or will be over the allowed 2 hours so the driver is not 'fined'.  As others have said, it seems ridiculous that not one of the passengers or the driver did not see signs showing the restricted times!  Also it is REALLY  annoying when people park in customer parking then go off for hours rather than go in a pay and display carpark.  It's as bad as using the disabled spaces without a blue badge! They are all responsible in the same way as I would expect them to share the cost of the petrol and any parking fees on a normal pay and display carpark.
