The Advicenow guide has a useful section on writing a statement / submission for the tribunal panel - I guess from your comment that you haven't read it?
At this time you don't have to send anything, but sending something explaining the points you think you should get and why and correcting errors the DWP made in their MR decision, can sometimes mean the next DWP decision maker to look at it prior to going to Tribunal, may change the decision in your favour.
A submission is what we call the written argument that a welfare rights rep would write for you when you go to Tribunal arguing the important points to the Tribunal panel. Some claimants decide to write their own submission and send it in earlier.
If you are unsure what you are doing you need more help. Can I ask what the difference is between the points awarded and points you think you should have been awarded for care and mobility?0 -

So in the letter you write, you need to do several sections (this is how I usually do it)
Paragraph 1 - a short paragraph explaining a short description of your conditions that qualify you for PIP, along with any relevant information about major adaptions to home or life due to your conditions- so I might give details of diagnoses, explain the basics of how they effect me - pain, breathlessness, exhaustion, anxiety, mental health issues, cognitive difficulties etc. and be specific about any medications that might be relevant - so in my case pain medication, condition specific medication, anxiety and depression meds. I might say I live in a level access flat with disabled parking outside, have had kitchen and bathroom adapted to my specific needs, and any other adaptions I might have - sofa raisers, adjustable bed, perching stools, bathing chair. I might say I am unable to work due to effects of illnesses and that my life is limited in other ways by by illnesses and mention things I can no longer do due to illnesses.
This all gives a broad overview of how your illness impacts you.
Then you get down to specifics. You would then say which descriptors and points awarded by the the decision maker you agree with. Be brief, at this point you are just saying you agree, you don't need to go into detail, but if you go to Tribunal you will need to flesh out this area as the Tribunal look at the whole award.
Then you state that you do not agree with the descriptors awarded in the following areas, then go through each descriptor you disagree with in a separate paragraph, stating what descriptor you believe you should have been awarded in each section, and why, and also state why the descriptor the DWP awarded is wrong - for instance if they ignored something you told them or disregarded it or got it wrong or did not take into account whether you could reliably, repeatedly or safely do the descriptor, then mention this, and anything else that supports the descriptor.
At the end in a last short paragraph 'I believe, therefore, I should have been awarded x points for daily living and x points for moving around. Then how long you belueve it should be awarded for and why your condition is unlikely to change in that time. Then obviously sign.
This is how I would approach it at this point and then amend it as needed for Tribunal.
Hope that's helpful. Feel free to ask questions of us if you're unsure.1
