There are many Pensioners who never ever seem to be entitled to any Benefits of any kind what so ever, simply because they have been careful all their lives, not thrown their money away and have savings amounting to the statutory >16k. So regardless which form you fill , ie-grants for heating, double glazing, solar panels etc, you never ever qualify.

So for these group of people, I am sure there are many, It would be nice to share our collative knowledge to help each other and make that valuable difference.

Every little helps and I am sure the assistance will be welcomed by ALL.

I will start off with:-

1) The Bus Pass - You can get an older person's bus pass TOTALLY FREE OF CHARGE when you reach State Pension age, which is currently 66 for both women and men. (This is different in London)

Now it is YOUR CHANCE to OPEN up the flood gates AND MAKE EVERYONE SMILE.

Please ensure what you post is tried and tested and does not send us on a wild goose chase.

No doubt Mr Lewis too will be able to contribute handsomely.

I don't think the senior rail card confers anything over and above any other railcard.......so it's not a specific pensioner benefit.  I'm happy to be proved wrong !

My local council offers concessionary rate of 65% for leisure activities/facilities plus free swimming for 60+.

In Wales you can apply for your Transport for Wales Concessionary Travel Card at 60... I got mine in January.  

With it you can travel for free on most bus services in Wales and the borders and get discounted or free travel on many rail services

Thank you all for your "constructive" responses, really a good place to be, apart from the person who missed the point about elaborating.

I have created this post to finetune and colatively zone in on OUR SPECIFIC experiences and so it is best to provide tailored specific links of things you know to be true from your personal experience so that we are all enlightened.

Please elaborate, it will be helpful for all of us as there may be citizens in their 60s,70s,80,90s+ viewing the posts who may not necessarily be tech savvi.           ny

Not free, but we can join the University of the Third Age and enjoy all sorts of classes very cheaply.
