Non-payment for commission sale

Hi all, I'm new here, just wondering where I stand on a particular issue.
I recently sold a guitar via an online company that deals exclusively with guitar sales. The sale was on a commssion basis, with the company taking 15% for the sale and the rest going to me. Anyway, long story short; it sold on the 13th June and since then I haven't been paid and I've had no response from the company regarding when I am going to be paid. My messages are just completely ignored. I've asked politely for an update three times but haven't had any response at all. I'm not demanding the money or being abusive, I'm just asking for an update. Any suggestions on what to do next?
I did check the company out before contacting them. They get good reviews on Trustpilot and they've been trading for a few years. I did think that maybe the bloke I'm dealing with was on holiday or something but he's active online and has responded to a "tester" email, sent from a friend of mine. He just won't respond to me! Also, I sent him the correct details for payment so there's no chance it's gone into someone else's account...or if it has, it isn't my fault!

Final email stating next step will be letter before action in 7 days.
Then letter before action.
Then small claims action.0 -

Does the site give you a timeframe for paying you? In some non-guitar related sites they state they hold onto the funds for a while to deal with if there are any disputes on the payment etc. Given they are likely to be the legal seller it comes from their pocket initially if a chargeback is done on the payment etc.2 -
I agree it would be normal practice to hold the payment until buyer confirms safe receipt, as described, in good working order etc1

It's only 10 days since the sale so I think the OP is being a little impatient, to say the least. They need to wait a while longer. Does the agreement with the company selling the guitar indicate how long it will take from sale of the item for payment to the vendor to be made?

As it's online, then you need to allow time for the guitar to be posted, and then examined by the buyer.
Check the company's T&Cs. You'll probably find that there is at least a 28 day period after a sale has been made before you receive the payment just in case the buyer finds an issue with the product.
Have a look at the buyer's T&Cs too - it probably tells them to report any issues within 14 days or something.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
The above is all sound reasoning but I can see OP's point of concern with the lack of a reply, if there is a good reason for payment not coming through yet why can't they just tell OP what it is?In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces1

A former colleague runs a small online business, they refuse to respond to any question which is clearly answered on their website. Their view is that those that can't be bothered to read stuff are typically the ones that become painful customers so they'd rather lose them than waste time helping them and then get items returned etc because they also didnt read sizes etc.2 -
Thanks for the responses everyone. It hadn't occurred to me that they may be waiting for the 14 days refund period to be up before paying me. I'm hoping that this is the case. If it is then I still don't see why I'm being ignored when I ask for an update. If I got a reply saying it was their policy to wait x number of days before payment is processed I would be happy with that. No reply whatsoever however opens up a whole list of possible scenarios.
I have had a look at the terms and conditions but they don't help. They just seem to deal with the more conentional details of buying from the company or the company buying from a seller. I can't see anything about commission sales.

Just an update on this one. It's now 16 days since the buyer received the guitar so we're beyond the 14 day refund policy.
I still haven't been paid and I still have had no response from the company since the sale was completed.
Can anyone advise on what I should do next? I would like to get the money that I'm owed.0 -
