Parcel just left on doorstep.

Hello
I've noticed talking with others and by my own experience that delivery drivers are now just leaving parcels on people's doorstep even when they are without any front garden.
Do these companies have a minimum duty to make sure that peoples deliveries are safely delivered?

Well, if they have, they don’t do anything about it. I find it depends on the individual delivery drivers some are better than others.
Amazon certainly didn’t care when I phoned up to complain. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

My favourite was the photo of the "delivered" parcel on the doorstep right next to the LARGE sign fixed to the door that reads "DO NOT LEAVE PARCELS ON THE DOORSTEP". Closely followed by the photo of the parcel "handed to resident" that was actually on the DOORSTEP of my neighbour four doors away.2

Found a large parcel ripped open on a park bench that was addressed to a house on a nearby street. Seemed to contain bottled sodas so didn't want to lug it around there.
If you think that's bad, several local communities have FB pages dedicated to lost and found parcels. "Anyone know where this doorstep is?" And if you live in the sticks, expect your deliveries to end up in a nearby hedgerow.
Edit predictive spellerIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing1 -
One of the local Evri drivers won't come until they have enough parcels out here to make it worth the cost of their fuel. But they are otherwise pretty good so I'll take slow and decent over fast and careless any day.RAS said:

Yes, it was a “handed to resident” lie that I got onto Amazon about. They really didn’t care.LinLui said:My favourite was the photo of the "delivered" parcel on the doorstep right next to the LARGE sign fixed to the door that reads "DO NOT LEAVE PARCELS ON THE DOORSTEP". One left parcels for the whole community just in the driveway of an uninhabited house. Only found out when one of the householders met some walkers who confessed they'd taken a wrong turning and wandered down the driveway. They realised the addresses were local but didn't know which house was which, so left them.Spoonie_Turtle said:

The householder had to take the car to pick up the load and distribute.
Rather different from the local postie who when snow blocks the side roads is known to arrange a drop off or pick-up at an agreed location, including the local hostelry on occasion. Ditto when road closures mean a 25 mile diversion. Not exactly in the regs, but it means everyone gets their mail more or less on time.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing1 -
Best to collect your deliveries from a click and collect depot these days - home deliveries are too dodgy. I lost several in the past1

From a seller's point of view, it would be good to have the option to only deliver to click and collect locations and avoid the doorstep nonsense altogether1
-
That would be no good for me as I don't drive or have click and collect nearby. What about large or heavy items for a buyer without transport etc?
That is the whole point of home deliveries, that you dont have to pick up yourself.5 -
I just bought something from eBay which has been delivered by Evri and it didn’t give me that option. Which would have been my preference.coffeehound said:Best to collect your deliveries from a click and collect depot these days - home deliveries are too dodgy. I lost several in the past
Evri just gave the choice of in a safe place or with a neighbour. I don’t have a safe place and the neighbours I trust have recently moved on.As it happens, they just dumped it without knocking anyway. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
