I have had this before when switching. For me the number wasn't 'in' the phone properly.

If you go to messages and phone in the settings is it your number you see there? What about if you click on your Apple id?

This happened to my wife ...

so, someone told us to ... <<If so, it means she registered for iMessage with the temporary number but didn't re-register with the new number. To cure this, Turn off iMessage. Turn the handset off and on. Make sure her correct number is showing in Settings. Turn on iMessage again. >>

Okay, you'll need to give us more information.

Suppose you dial a number, exactly what happens. What do you see (exactly what any messages say) and what do you hear?

When you contacted Sky, what exactly did they say.
I hear nothing. The call does not connect. Says call failed.
Sky had me trying various things.
Phone has been on & off. Sim in & out.
Checked not on flight mode. The volume is working correctly.
Been into settings & tried various different things as advised. Will try again tomorrow.
It would have been helpful to tell us what the various things were as we weren’t there to see. So there will be some element of guess work I’m afraid.

Can you try the SIM in another phone? If the same thing happens then you’ll know it’s related to the SIM or network. Trying this somewhere else that’s on a different mast will rule out a problem with the mast.

One thing you haven’t mentioned is whether you ported your number into Sky or if this is a new SIM rather than one you’ve been using for some time?
Sorry. I have cerebral palsy & I am finding this challenging. I had been trying to deal with this for some hours & I was tired.
Ported number to Sky & have a new SIM.
    Sorry again.

Sorry again. I live alone and can’t try in another phone. I am frightened to go out as I can’t use phone.

    Thanks.
It is now showing a signal strength which it wasn’t before.
    It shows the ported number.
Before then it was showing both Sky & Ee in the provider details.
Services seems to now be ok other than intermittent problems with text.
