  • Thanks for the reply Beddie.

I'm a long time saver with building societies, however due to all the demutualisations and mergers they are quite a rare sight on the high street these days.

I have no problem with postal accounts except for the ones that the require you to send original documents as proof of identity.

  • My fixed term ISA with Lloyds came to an end last month. The interest rate dropped to 1.44% on their instant cash isa. I tried to transfer it to their 4% isa but the website would not let me online and I had to print out a form and send it by post. This was three weeks ago. Do we know if Lloyds will backdate to compensate for missing interest? I have tried ringing their dedicated number but it just rings and rings. Any experience of this anyone? Thanks in advance.

Normally with a fixed term savings account, the provider contacts you 3 or 4 weeks before the end of the term, laying out your options.
Did this not happen, as that would be very unusual?
